Stolen this idea from Ruff over on the Irish clubroom. I was thinking we could do a tactical analysis of a ie boards cup game, as a kind of competition to sharpen people's tactical skills. Very simply:

    1. Two teams playing together on Monday agree to be our guinea pigs - they take note of their defence, their attack, their kicking ratio and tactics before the game. They then send me these stats after the game.

    2. Everyone here can try to accurately analyse and explain the tactics played from the match and team stats - just like Ruff is asking of the U-20 managers on the offsite.

Alright chaps, here is the match to be analysed.

    The format:
    Attack (10 points)

    P'n'G: - picked exactly, 2 points, picked within 5%, 1 point.
DRI: - picked exactly, 2 points, picked within 5%, 1 point.
EXP: - picked exactly, 2 points, picked within 5%, 1 point.
CRE: - picked exactly, 2 points, picked within 5%, 1 point.

All 4 picked exactly, extra 2 points.

    Kicking (4 points)

Kicking Level: - picked exactly, 2 points, picked within 5%, 1 point.
Kick For Touch/Up & Under: - picked exactly, 2 points, picked within 5%, 1 point.

Defense: - picked exactly 2 points.

Intensity: - picked exactly 2 points.

Discipline: - picked exactly 2 points.

    Total: - 20 points.

    The deadline:
    Friday 11th of June 12 p.m.

One of your more overt fishing expeditions but I'll bite- it could be interesting. I'm up for sharing my tactics after the event if Cody1 is.

Not sure where the bait is in my post Dave. You can always play un-typical tactics if you are worried.

I'd be impressed if anybody could define my typical tactics, because I couldn't! The only thing i've figured out is that I seem to rely on the lineout a lot. Played a bit at secondrow before I discovered less healthy pursuits, so I suppose it's natural:D.

Doesn't everyone kind of do that? it's what you know best - what skillset required etc. Like me being a back went straight to the market for backs when I signed up...never thought about forwards until later...:o

That's two then, and one to be one of the two guinea pigs.

I'm up for it. haven't got anything to lose anyway, I'm not what you'd call a tactical expert so I might be able to learn something from it.

    Good stuff, so:
    Volunteers

    Dave
    Cody
    Participants

    eofarrell
    Orizio
    Satory

Hopefully we could make this an ongoing exercise, do it every couple of weeks and keep tabs for who does best (and worst). :pac:

I'll put up the format tonight.

Doesn't seem to be much interest though. I fear some are running scared from my tactical prowess. :( I continue to suffer from my intellectual brilliance...

    Sounds like a challenge!:p

I'm interested in giving it a shot, I have never bothered to do it in such detail so I'll be interested on how close I get.

I also volunteer Grubber RFC for the guinea pig side of things in a future week.
