Back on the website now @ 9.99 per bottle with a note saying :
    "SAVE 10.00 Was 19.99...valid until 22/6/2010"

The Côtes du Rhône wines have been that great past few years, anyone know is it a Syrah or Grenache grape type ?

hmph... ordered CNDP lastnight at €7.99... ended up getting tescos generic table wine. I think they're on to us.

picked up a couple of bottles there, cheers!

Not much of a wine person, but how do you know its a good wine and not chateauneuf du vinegar?

If it was so good why do tescos / superquinns etc discount them so much?

Not yet, saving for weekend!! They seem to have a good few deals. Chablis save €10

Looking forward to the CNDP anyway.

The shelves were bare for both of these at the weekend anyway.

Any reason why retailers seem to discount heavily on selected random wines?

I got my 6 bottles delivered today -but they charged me 9.99 instead of 7.99.

Rang to complain and got a full refund - RESULT :D

Well done! Though I think you're right, they've copped on to us. That €7.99 price was really great value. I tried that Chablis too, very nice.

I notice that Tescos seem to be doing a lot of this mispricing lately. So everyone keep your eyes peeled, and let us know about the next good wine offer. They often don't have the price displayed, so if you are suspicious, try one of those fancy pricecheckers (usually in the bigger stores). You don't want to draw the staff's attention to the mispricing!

Watch out for corked red wine in Tescos. It seems to me that anything with a yellow bargain sticker has a good chance of being corked. I've returned several bottle and the staff seem to be quite used to corked wine being returned and will offer a refund or "pick another bottle around the same price".

Hardly a bargain though, even at a big discount if it's corked. I wonder who choses these wines for discounting.

Tescos "Finest" Garnacha 2008 (around 7.99) is a good example. Avoid!

Having said that I've had some passable wines in the 10 - 15 euro bracket in the 2008 2009 vintages.
