99 corolla drivers door lock

99 corlla 1.3 basically the key will not lock or unlock the drivers door every thing in the door is connected ,the car does not have remote central locking . what would be the most probable cause and how to check . thanks in advance

Does key turn at all?
If not some sprays with Wd40 or similar should sort it.

You can still lock it using the knob in the door?
Next step, unless that's what you did already is to remove door card and check that everything is indeed connected.
Try googling removal of the door card and some vids should show.

hi the key turns fine and every thing is connected i had the door card off ,it is belong to my sister and when she locks the door she sometimes leaves the key in the ignition . one of the electrical bits is no working but which one ?thank for the reply
