sorry to read about your relative OP. That's a pretty bad day alright *hugs* Hope you and your family are OK.

I had thought of a couple of worse days, but when I read what you posted I thought I've much worse to come, unless I croak it first ;)

11 May 1989 for me, but I ripped the doors apart on my way out allegedly! :D I dunno, I was drunk.

My worst day? Pick anywhere during my 14th-16th years of life.

My worst day was after reading minidazzlers post, realising it must be a metaphor, copping on to what it was a metaphor for, and then visualising his big head ripping his Ma's punani and how many stitches she needed afterwards. Haven't felt that disturbed since I saw Alien the first time.

BTW, I wish people would stop quoting JohnnyJB's post with the facepalms, it makes it look like he was the eejit. Its the eejit who thought the Twin Towers fell on the 9th of November that you should be quoting for the facepalms.

Feb and March 2010. My gf broke up with me, I lost my job and I lost my pants on a random drunken night out. But I got a job and things are much better now. I still haven't gotten over the pants though :D

    Are you this guy?

Bad trip on the hawaiin magic mushrooms in amsterdam when I was 19. Only supposed to eat half a punnet if it was your first time but decided to eat the whole lot on advice from my friends who were there with me.

Only lasted for a few hours, but I thought it would never end, it was horrible.

It's funny, my worst day was probably the day my father died. I mean, when I think back to it I can't even think of it. However, recently a good mate's younger brother died suddenly and my girlfriend's sister died of cancer, and you know, I can't recall my father's death as any worse than those days, it's bull****, it doesn't get easier and people keep dying, but hey, make lemonade etc. Christ, having a conversation with your mate and he keeps laughing at the good memories and then crying cause there are no more good ones to come with the brother and you know there's nothing you can do.

Is it possible to inadvertantly murder someone? Surely thats manslaughter at most

    murder

The Columbia Encyclopedia, Sixth Edition | 2008 | The Columbia Encyclopedia, Sixth Edition. Copyright 2008 Columbia University Press.

Murder criminal homicide , usually distinguished from manslaughter by the element of malice aforethought. The most direct case of malicious intent occurs when the killer is known to have adopted the deliberate intent to commit the homicidal act at some time before it is actually committed. Very often, however, the law presumes the existence of malice aforethought from the circumstances, and it does not necessarily have to be proved directly. The most clear-cut case of this presumption of malice is when the killer inadvertently murders a person other than his intended victim. Here, malice is presumed if the killer intended to inflict serious bodily injury, or if he behaved with such reckless disregard of the safety of others as to betray a "depraved heart." Likewise, a killing incidentally committed in the course of a felony (e.g., robbery or rape) is deemed murder; if the felony was accomplished by more than one person, all are equally guilty of the murder, not only the actual killer. A murder that is incidental to a misdemeanor , however, is treated as manslaughter. Most states prescribe various degrees of murder. Murder in the first degree generally is a calculated act of slaying committed with malice aforethought, often requiring aggravated circumstances such as extreme brutality. It receives the severest penalty, often life imprisonment or capital punishment . Second-degree murder is a homicide committed with malice, but without deliberation or premeditation. A homicide committed without malice (as in negligent motor vehicle operation) or in the "heat of passion" (as in a quarrel which escalates to violence) is generally considered manslaughter. In some states, certain crimes that are defined as murder of a lower degree approximate more closely the definition of manslaughter in common law . In some cases, it is difficult to determine whether malice aforethought was present; consequently the governor of a state (or other chief executive) not infrequently uses his power of commutation of sentence to revoke the death penalty, and in some states the appellate courts automatically review all convictions of murder.

    Whatever that says

Personally I think George Bush is a total legend,

hey, do you fancy having a pointless off topic debate in which neither of us convinces the other of our opinion and we resort to semantics and grammar nazism before the thread is locked?

I've been fairly lucky when it comes to horrible events in my life.
so far, the worst day of my life was

25/12/05, the day my first dog died due to being poisoned.
he was sick for a month or so, coughing and such, we brought him to the vet numerous times but they couldn't figure out what was wrong with him. Christmas Eve he started to cough up a green, bloody foam and we brought him to the emergency vet, pretty much told to bring him back in the morning if he survives the night. brought him home, he was affectionate with everyone, in turn, then growled if we went near him. next morning he was dead. afterwards, the vets told us that it was most likely paraquat, there is no cure for it, so he would have died no matter what. the only thing that would have changed is that he would have been put down so he wouldn't have had to suffer.

i was 21 and living away from home, enjoying life and looking forward to the summer.

it was a lovely sunny spring evening and i had a few cold bottles of beer.

i decided to have an early night so id be up early for work in the morning

was lieing in bed around 5 minutes when my flatmate came into the room and handed me the phone. it was my mother, barely able to speak, crying telling me that my dad went for a walk along the canal and drowned. he was 53 and left behind three younger family members and my ma.

    **** day.

The day i finished my Leaving Cert in 2000. Came home from the exam to get ready for the celebrations. My mum was on the phone. My dad had been feeling unwell for about 2 weeks, thought it was a kidney infection. Hospital calling to say Dad had admitted himself and it was probable it was kidney failure. :(
Was in hospital for a week when we got the news it wasn't his kidneys, he had bowel cancer, he would only live maybe for another 3 months. 4 weeks later my Dad died.:( I think every day just became the worst day.

I just had an entire year's worth of death...
my uncle dropped dead in april,
my granny was diagnosed with cancer that christmas, she was told she had another fives years after the operation, finally got home and the cancer was back. She was given a month to live, died exactly a month, to the hour later.
Then 24/02/09 my life long friend died in a car crash.
    It was SHÍTE!!!

But let me give you all a few words of comfort - although you may feel that you have already had the worst day of your life, there are many more like that & worse to follow.

    Hope that helps.
