    Thats not good!

Why, sure there has been the odd eathquake on Katla over the last few weeks - what makes this ne any different?

lots of quakes in the past few hours  And it is significant that there are earthquakes under Katla doesn't it? Doesn't that mean magma movement? Sorry if im way off :pac:

That's not good news. If the quake magnitude stays the same it'll be ok, but if it steadily increases then a Katla eruption is a sure thing :(

Has the eruption stopped ? Looks very quiet up there today.

Most of these quakes are under Enya, so not much to worry about on that score.

Just wondering can someone explain to me the red, green and blue areas?
Is that just difference heights, if so, what estimated heights?

Not erupting but LOADS of earthquakes over the last 2 days. Is it possible Magma is trapped below due to shifting pltes etc?

    Iceland's Eyjafjallajokull volcano reduces activity
    Iceland's Eyjafjallajokull volcano reduces activity

The Icelandic volcano which has been disrupting air traffic for more than a month is showing a marked drop in activity, new measurements suggest.

Heat camera footage from early on Sunday indicated the temperature in the crater had fallen to just 100C, a leading volcanologist said.
This means Eyjafjallajokull is now producing steam, not magma, he said.

But he warned that it was too early to say whether the eruption was over completely.

thats good news i wonder when they'll be able to confirm if it has stopped completely.

does anyone know if it stopped back in April (remember when the airports re-opened) or if it had just reduced a bit and wind directions changed?

That was mainly down to a change in wind direction.

Its a quiet spell. Its to early to say its stopped. Pressure isnt being released, Pressure will build again.

silly question but how is pressure released? i would have thought through eruptions, and if there are currently no eruptions then there is little or no pressure building? or am i being too simplistic?
