I just watched that race. To lay that one at 1000 you would have had to be seriously insane. Maybe there is some mad multi millionaire on Betfair who wants to give his money away?

Disaster for somebody......... click 4k gone......... lol
It was interesting that Wodavick read the interview, understood it and was able to pick a target race. Getting the winner was a bonus but I think it really proved your point.

    Morning all !

Obviously, getting a winner with the first selection was a major plus. Of more interesting consideration was the fact that the horse would have been a selection in both markets i.e. before the favourite came out and after.

I had a small each-way bet at 13/2 at lunchtime, but even after the massive Rule 4, still managed to double my money on the bet. Would have just about broken even if the horse had only placed. Nice start.

From what I can see of today's racing, nothing appears to stand out. Will only get to look at this evening's markets later on.

Also, I spent an hour last night rustling through some old Racing Posts I had lying around. I identified seven markets in which there would have been selections. Results were pretty impressive: three winners at odds between 4/1 and 6/1, two placed horses at odds of 5/1 and 7/1, and two losers at 5/1 and 8/1.

I'm fully aware of the dangers of looking at past races and trying to put square results in round boxes, but these were based on the opening market prices as per the Racing Post, so the bets could have been placed ten minutes before the off.

    Thoughts?

8.35 hamilton looks the only possibility today.

even if there is a bet it probably won't be strong, but you should have a look at it again around tea time.

6:30 NOVICES HURDLE 2m 110y (AINT) has a margin call - Praxiteles currently 6/1 with AP on board

I see what you mean and if you think its odds on to be placed and the bookies is laying you 6/5 its a must bet. I think Mugsy would prefer the 4 outsiders to be bigger prices so I don't think he would make it a bet. I could easily be wrong.
He might even make the 5/2 chance the bet on the race.

    Good stuff !

I can't access betting sites at work, so I'm restricted to PP shows on Aertel, of all things. The evening markets will only appear as the day's racing proceeds, so I'll have a gander later on. Thanks for that.

missed that one.. but def looks to have potential too. and as PS said, even the 2nd fav could be a bet.

Can you post the prices in this market, please? As I said, I can't access them at work.

Fav, 2nd & 3rd fav and the bar price? Cheers.

I'd be surprised if it didn't place. Admitedly Lidar, the fav would only have to not make any errors to win.

The 3.45 at York has cut up a little and the market with PP now stands as follows:

    Fav 6/4
    Hoof It 9/2
    8/1 Bar

Think I'll have a little on Hoof It.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,968 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Timeform agrees in terms of the top 3

Diman Waters and Hoof It are both ahead of the handicapper and really ought to fight out the finish, with preference just for the former, who ran a blinder from 6 lb out of the weights at Chester last week and can run off his proper mark this time. Trade Secret could prove best of the rest. (they also top the speed ratings)

Received information directly from the trainer of a horse running tonight.

Will post the horse at around 7:30 this evening for anyone interested.

The horse has an 80% chance of winning so an each-way bet has been suggested. The horse will be priced around 5 to 7/1

Thanks a million for that. In that market, Praxiteles looks the bet to me. A small each-way is in order, I think.

Wow, looking forward to this, thanks in advance. It's not too often you receive information on a horse that should be 1/4 and its tissue price is 5 to 7/1.

    Let me rephrase my post.

I asked the trainer out of 100% how is the horse. He said he's got an 80% chance. Sorry if that comes across incorrectly but that's what I meant.

The trainer is in fact probably the nicest guy in horse-racing and a totally honest guy.
