I used to think the chorus to "Blinded By The Light" by Manfred Mann was ....

"Blinded by the light . . . wrapped up like a douche" (instead of "reved up like a deuce").

I mean, who the hell wraps up a douche? "Her honey, I got you something for Christmas that I not only think you like, but you could also really do with."
Thank you for clarifying. I also thought until this moment it was "wrapped up like a douche". Nonsensical I know, but I could not think of an alternative... :o

I lived in Spain for a few years & used to have heated arguments with my Spanish mates about the lyrics to Beck's "Loser"... I was adamant (not Adam Ant - that would be a serious mondegreen!!) that the chrous was...

"Saw you walk out the door,
I'm a loser baby, so why don't you kill me"

It took me a long time & a lot of learning of Spanish to concede that the lyrics were in fact..

    "Soy un perdedor
I'm a loser baby, so why don't you kill me"

Interesting tidbit; that song was written by Bruce Springsteen.
I'll just point that out before Outlaw Pete does.

I'm surprised you got in there before Pete did. Candy must be on Channel 907 tonight.

A friend of mine used to think that Bon Jovi's "Livin' on a prayer" was "livin' on a railroad"

i've heard people sing some words that just dont make sense in the song AT ALL!

    whiskey in the jar

As I was goin' over the far famed Kerry mountains,
I met with Captain Farrell, and his money he was countin'.
I first produced me pistol and I then produced me "RAYGUN"

though my favourite one i've heard

    nelly - ride wit me

if you wanna go and get high wit me
smoke an L in the back of the benzie
oh why must i feel this way
    (Hey Más é do thoil é )

Oh dear - not only did I think it was 'Raygun' (until now when I just Googled it & saw that it is "rapier"), but I also thought that you f*cked up with "far framed Kerry mountains" - I always thought it was "Cork & Kerry mountains".

    I'll get my coat.

I was speaking with a Chinese guy once & he blurts out that he likes the music of Cweam very much... I am surprised, but Cream was a great band (albeit one you don't hear much about these days) & started spieling (as I do) about Clapton & co...

    He looks bemused.

He then tells me his favorite song by this 'Cweam' is: We Will Rock You.

In fairness, Nelly is a well known gealgoir, so it's an easy missunderstanding.

"The ants are my friends is blowin in the wind, the ants are blowing in the wind" I thought Dylan was a bit like Dougal "TED THE ANTS ARE BACK"!!

In the middle of Messugahs song Rational Gaze (cracking good tune), the guy roars out, clear as a bell, I LIKE JUICE!! Check it out!

One lyric I misheard was in "Paranoid" by Black Sabbath. The original line is: Can you help me occupy my brain? I thought it was: Can you help me? Can you burn my brain?

Yeah so there I was sitting with this lass Michelle...happy out in first year of college...listening to mah slipknot... Heard 'Inside my shell I wait and bleed' as 'Inside Michelle I wait and bleed'...<end of story here> it's all I could think about then and until this day.

Love the songs where they just stick up the lyrics that sound like they are saying it.

Paulo Nutella's song "Ten out of Ten"

Always thought he was singing, "I wanna get me outta bed" instead of "I wanna get ten out of ten"

When I heard 'When loves takes overrrr' I always thought it was 'When I taste soberrr'

For months, until I looked at the lyrics.
