Route Help - New Ross to Dublin

    Hi everyone,

    Quick question to commuting people. I travel alot to Dublin from Waterford and use the M9 always. But Friday week i've to be in New Ross for work and then get to Dublin that evening. I aim to leave New Ross at 4.30 (I know not the greatest time on a Friday evening) and need to be in Sandymount, D4 ASAP.
    What do people suggest,

    New Ross - Thomastown - M9?
    Or New Ross - N30 - M11?
    Ive never used the M/N11 before so I don't know what to expect.

    Your help would be much appreciated!

    N/M11 northbound on a Friday is generally pretty quite. Pretty much everything is now bypassed too, I'd definitely be going this route.

    I'd say it's much of a muchness. There's a bit more motorway going the M9, but it's the first leg of the journey that's going to be slow no matter which way you go.

    I imagine the critical factor is getting through Dublin at the end of rush hour and I imagine the N11 would be easier than fighting your way across the city.

    Thanks for your replies.

    Yeah i'm leaning towards the N11, despite not being familar with it. I'm wondering how much of it is actually motorway/dual carriageway 120km and which isn't. Would enniscorthy be a disaster at 5 o clock?

    On the dublin side, i know where it is and its very close to the N11 just off from UCD. M9 would involve the M50 at 6pm on a friday :eek:

    i was thru Enniscorthy recently on a friday at about 4.30 southbound. It was ****. northbound looked ok though. no traffic stuck on the southern inbound roads, though the town was slow enough due to the funnel of the bridges

    Which will be no problem as you're going against the traffic.

    Sorry just to add another positive fir n11. You are meeting traffic and not stuck in it. The main flow is south bound.
