Are UPC Ireland in negotiations to put ITV HD on the HD package?.
ITV HD is now a fully fledged HD channel. Are there any internal vested interests in keeping it off the package, or is it just a negotiation issue?

Seeing as they don't get it in Northern Ireland I would say its slim.

Seeing as Scotland are getting STV HD, I wonder will there ever be a UTV HD or regional variant?

UPC has ITV 2,3 & 4, is the because they're freely available & not limited to UK? Didn't Ofcom allowed 7 regional variants of ITV1HD, but that wouldn't apply to ROI would it?

Looking at the freeview website, it says no HD channels will be transmitted in Ulster until 2012, but STV is listed as one of those channels. Maybe we'll get it then.

Thats freeview, nothing to do with satellite (how the channels are moved from A to B) and nothing to do with whether or not UPC will get ITV1hd.

Best thing to do is probably email UPC. They're not gonna tell you if they're after it probably, but they'll at least know you want them to be.

So is it available outside of England & Wales? I would have thought that if its not available on freeview in NI, how could it be available on cable in ROI?

I did ring them and said flat out, no, they won't be getting it, they are only trying to get Sky sports & movies in HD.

I for one would love ITVHD & Ch4HD etc instead of sports, movies & factual HD channels. Heres hoping anyway.

Officially no. It can be tuned in on Freeview and Sky HD boxes though for those without the appropriate EPG's.
