I was born and rared in Dublin 4/6 (live in Swords now) and the type of people you've described annoy me too. People from all over Ireland have told me I have no distinct accent while others can spot that I'm from south Dublin immediately but usually tell me I don't have that annoying accent (and I don't). Some country folk seem to think that's the only accent in south Dublin. I can tell you there are three different accents in south Dublin alone that I can hear.

Most of the people I know from the same area would be the same as me. I don't know where these over the top Ross O'Carroll Kelly D4 types come from but they are around. The accent, I suppose they can't help but their attitude gets them noticed, so even though it annoys others, they keep it up.

Although it is not good to tar an entire group of people with one brush, stereotypes become stereotypes for a reason. I have made some very good friends who hail from south dublin, but have also met real douches who are generally elitist. It is quite common for the males of this type to be braggarts and act superior. I have also met some Females who have accents that come straight from 90210 or something(I know Americans who sound less American)
I find it ironic that these people see themselves as better than everyone else, while at the same time aping american culture, mannerisms etc

Anyway, people shouldnt let this minority of south dubliners under their skin. In fact, I feel pity for them. The bubble will burst soon, because no matter how lofty you are, you will eventually be hit by the sh*te a large proportion if the country have been hit with

You started a conversation about surrealism vs impressionstic art in a bar, what a hoot. Do you think they were looking at you like you were a paedophile or a pretentious mong?

No, a paedophile. There was sheer anger. Not sure why being interested in art would make me look like a "pretnetious mong".
    What bar was that in?
I would have though the westport locals would be accomodating in that regard.

Sorry, in fairness, wasn't in Westport, was nearby. Village name sounded like "Morris" (Maurisk?) - there was only one bar.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

I generally like southside better than northside dublin purely for the reason that as an outsider I know noone from the northside, so I find that you dont get bothered much when ya live here(southside) wereas you are more than likely to get mugged or robbed on the northside. Before all the northsiders jump on me, its fact, because I have lived there!

Please only post things you know about buddy :) makes you look silly

Killester is far from the kind of area associated with the OPs post. It is so posh that a guy I went to primary school with was shot there in a bookies a while back.have you ever been there? Some parts of clontarf have council houses.have you ever been there? some parts of Raheny define working class.have you ever been there?

It is intellectually defective people like you who give poeple like my south dublin friends a bad name.

Maybe I've got the wrong end of the stick here and if so I apologise, but you seem to have a chip on your shoulder. Has a south-sider ever done anything bad to you?

I live in a council estate on the southside:eek::eek:
    Shock horror!

The only difference is in the northside council estates they rob peoples bikes and belongings. On the southside we walk into someones house and nick peoples paninis. It's still thievery, but with class!

    In fairness, he is right.

Why, in this day and age, can't country and city folk get along?

We have so much more in common than we have in apart......hatred of Northsiders for example.

"Oh what am I reading? Just a book about Pierre-Auguste Renoir. What? No, I just casually carry it around and read it in public and strike up conversations about it, its not to make me seem cultured and intellectual when in truth im a pretentious dullard with the personality and wit of a wet paper towel. Wait, where are you going?"
