Cool. they'll be applying for rebate from the distributor, No harm in dropping in the required stuff beforehand.

The dealer is being a wee bit casual about it all imo. He's not v good at returning e-mails/phone calls.

It's in his interests to apply for any rebate due to him on time, I wouldn't worry about it too much - it shouldn't affect your cost to change if it was built into the quote. Dunno how VW works, but with some other brands they have up to a month afterwards to do it.

It's not the cost to change I'm worrying about. I don't wanna be left without a car.

........just got off the phone from the dealer. He has received a "production date" of week 23 for my car, so I should have it in time for the date I was looking for. :D

That's good news. Even if the car is late, it won't affect you getting the exemption or not. It just means that your future time to change gets later for 2 years time.

Are you sure about that? I was getting scared, and thought it would affect it?

No. your exemption is there as long as you qualify for it.

Nothing to worry about from the Govt side, where it can get messy is when the car is ridiculously late and your trade in devalues considerably. that's when the dealer could lose interest in the deal and try and get more money from you or try and weasel their way out of the deal.

Sounds like you have nothing to worry about Mickey.

You may be worrying about nothing, but if you want to go down that road, I'd be checking the order form, seeing if there's any reference to the delivery date.

    Hey Mickey
    Dont worry lad.
    On another note
did you get your letter from Monaghan explaining about the Fuel Excise duty changes?
You no longer re-claim it every 4 months. It is now once yearly.
This is since 1st April this year
I have been told to claim this year ON or AFTER 20-08-2010 and every year thereafter.

I've never claimed the excise duty on the fuel.

Spoke to the dealer earlier today, and he's advising me to hold onto the DD1 form etc, until closer to when I'm buying the car.

Too much hassle collecting/keeping receipts etc. I have enough bloody paperwork to go through when getting a car. :D

If I was getting that much off fuel, I'd keep the receipts ;)

With Diesel you get I think 38c per liter back
With Petrol I think it is 48c

    http://www.revenue.ie/revsearch/search.jsp

If you have any receipts since the last year hold them and send off the form.
It may be worth a phone call to them and they would fill you in .

    Hiya

It's been a loooooong time since I posted in this thread. It's getting close to the date when I - hopefully - get my hands on my car.

However, I feel the salesman I'm dealing with is either being a bit vague, or basically doesn't give a **** now that he has my deposit.

I rang him up today to find out if there was any update on my car. He seemed extremely casual about the whole thing??

I have stressed to him on numerous times that I have booked a week at the end of this month to get things sorted - this is when the 12 weeks will be up from the date I paid the deposit(31st March).

He said that the car should arrive on that week but that he won't know until perhaps the day before???

Is this normal practice, or is this guy taking the p*** outta me, now that he has my deposit??
