It looks as though the market for Netbooks has collapsed - or at the least the prices will have. And in turn manufacturers will bark up other trees.

Blame the iPad, and the usefulness (uselessness?) of notebooks.

It means the growth of the market has declined. It doesnt mean sales have dropped.

That was to be expected, and has nothing to do with an iPad. Basically it just means they have found their position in the market.

I just bought a Netbook and I'm delighted with it. I suppose it depends on what you want from one but when I compare my netbook with an iPad I cannot justify spending money on that over-hyped & over-priced iPad nonsense.

ipad has no flash, no usb, cant run pc games .I,D prefer a netbook if i just had one device to acess the web.
And there will be android based slates with flash ,usb out in 6 months cheaper than 500dollars.

don't think you can blame the ipad yet, tablets have been around a good while, its just at this stage most people that were in the market for a netbook size device have probably got one and there's not much need to upgrade. Increase the screen size towards 13" add a touch interface and they'll probably start selling

As an original Eee 701 owner i would never have been abe to justify an iPad to myself. Having said that, as a Palm Pre owner I can't wait to see what type of devices HP pump out now that they have bought Palm and the fantastic webos.

I hope netbooks die altogether. Netbooks and Intel GMA is killing PC gaming
