Hyundai Getz - A good first car?

A family member is considering buying a 2nd-hand Getz as their first car. If the price/mileage were right would it be a reliable/sensible purchase? Any opinions on it? Thanks

I drove one as a rental a few years back and thought it was decent for the price. Don't know the safety rating but it had plenty of airbags and a decent spec. Felt solid too

Yep, they're a good car. As long as you get one at a good price. Very well specced and good for reliability.

Thanks guys, one final question - would the 2005 Getz have airbags fitted in the front seats? (or just standard Driver and passenger airbags)

A very nice little car. Very reliable compared to similarly priced superminis.

Got a 2002 Getz back in 2008....70k miles later and its ticking along nicely with not a bit of bother with it, I believe the i20 is the new equivalent of it (or maybe perhaps the i10). I know mine has front driver side airbags I don't believe it has passenger off hand but pretty sure newer model do.

The Getzs all have dual frontal airbags, but to my knowledge never came with side airbags in this market.
