Panasonic DTT question?

I have two Panasonics a G10L (Irish Model) and the G10B (UK FREESAT Model).

On my G10L RTE1 is at channel 1 and when I press "I" the programme descriptor comes up and it works as it should do.

On my G10B RTE1 is at channel 801 and has "Encrypted" underneath it, (something which is absent from the G10L). Also when I press "I" the programme descriptor does not come up and and in the EPG Guide all the TV programmes are there but when I press i to find out what its about it does not come up like it does on the G10L.

I tried "update channel list" on the G10B but I still can't get EPG info. I wonder has this anything to do with it being a UK tv and how they deal with overspill across the border?

I am receiving it from Mullaghanish also.

Posters on the boards have reported issues with Panasonic TVs and the Irish DTT signal, a search might help.

Generally when the Irish channels are placed in the 800's it indicates the TV was installed with a country setting other than Ireland, the SI data stream carries the country code from which it originates e.g. 372 (Ireland), 826 (UK).

Channels also appear in the 800's if you receive duplicate channels from two or more transmitters.

The 10b like the predecessors the LZD81 and P81s are manufactured to the UK D Book standard and shortcut ETSI standards.

A bigger problem for that DVB-T tuner of those panasonic models is the service types that are broadcast that will disable that tuner if broadcast. Of course you cant switch the country on the panasonic freesat models because you loose the freesat if you do.

Time for screenshots. Are you getting picture with the encrypted flag popup (a symptom of incomplete firmware).

Care to take a few photos/screenshots of the G10Bs messages.

Freesat RTE is of course encrypted as that is Satellite. Does the UK Freesat version have a Freeview Tuner too? Also UK Freeview doesn't use MPEG4, though Irish DTT does.

By the time we ever have an official DTT service, the UK will be Running DVB-t2 + MPEG4 for HD. UK TVs and Setboxes that work with the newer DVB-t2 MPEG4 for UK HD DTT will very likely work with Irish DTT (DVB-t + MPEG4). non-HD UK DTT (Freeview) is DVB-t + MPEG2 only.

So I'd not worry about Irish Reception in N.I. for now.

He is talking about reception of RTE on DVB-T on a Panasonic G10. The channel positioning is set to the 800's unless the country descriptor is UK. The reason for the wrong encrypted messages is a symptom of incomplete firmware for the Irish market and full ETSI standards not defined.

I would love to see the screenshots so that panasonic can see the fruits of their shortcuts with UK DBook.

These shortcuts were not taken by LG in LF7700 series who are also Combo freesat/MPEG4 DVB-T Tvs.

Jaysus. Richersounds might want to lift those vids to sell more freesat combo tvs!

I see what you mean from the pics. It gives you the short event info but not the full epg data.

Simple heres the question for Panasonic. Get the photo with the Encrypted flags to accompany the question (No encrypted flags are being broadcast on DVB streams by the way - this is evident from the G10L).

Why isnt the G10b although scanning the muxes (and displaying the channels) not downloading the Service Information (SI) particularly the EPG data as it should do in compliance with ETSI Standard 300 468.

You might want to show them a pic of the G10L as well showing the full Epg data which also shows the encryption flag as being not set on the DVB stream.

Be interested in the response if you could post it when you get the reply.

I have a Panasonic LZD81 with Freesat and an MPEG4 tuner. There were issues with the service types broadcast by RTENL but they have now reset these so all is fine and I can get the Irish DTT.

I can see the Irish DTT EPG for the next 7 days by pressing "Guide" on the remote.

The EPG on Freesat and RTENL DTT are almost identical except that the Freesat channels give further information on the programs (some of the time) when you press "i" on the remote.

I assumed that this was not present on the the Irish DTT channels as the broadcast is still a test -- maybe now it is just my TV model.
To be honest, it isn't a big deal to me as the EPG does give the up to date start and end times of the programs which is useful and the information on the content is better and more independent from other sources.
