Why don't Hendry and Davis have knighthoods?

If knighthoods and damehoods can be given for one off sporting events and gold medals then why aren't two players who dominated their respective eras in a sport not rewarded in the same way?

I think in years to come, especially with the plans to globalise the sport and the tournaments the idea that any single player especially those who are British dominating like this is going to be even harder to emulate.

Is it because snooker is seen to be a bit like darts and maybe boxing i.e. more of a recreational sport where long term success is not rewarded with the highest honours - Henry Cooper is the only currently living boxer to be knighted.

snooker players never cease to amaze me, what goes on in their minds that they know exactly where they want to put the ball for the next few shots. top level players should be acknowledged for their skill and intelligence. like what was said on the documentary tonight, snooker players are born.

Funny, the exact same thing crossed my mind last night! They certainly deserve it IMO. Strange..

I thought Hendry White and Davis had MBE's? is that a knighthood?
Don't really know the difference really between OBE's MBE's myself!

Same here, I thought they were just different forms of knighthood?

OBE better than MBE in simply terms.

EDIT: there are higher awards KBE and GBE which give you the "Sir" or "Dame" title but lower ranks such as OBE can be Sir in special occasions.

    Knighthood/Sir > OBE > MBE > CBE.
They'll most likely get them when they retire.
