Mad to put savings into Anglo?

I've got money from a Halifax savings account that I have to move somewhere. I'm looking for a 1 year fixed term with good interest rate and Anglo are offering 3.5%. Question is, with the current scandals, etc would I be mad to go with them? Or are they now the safest place for our money with the gov backing?
