    He, like the rest of them in Dail Eireann, deserve an awful lot less than most pensioners when you think of what they have done over the last few years.

    Ahern didn't create the conditions for the Celtic Tiger, he walked into a great situation and turned it from a nice, export driven economy to a property bubble ponzi scheme.

    Nor did he have as big a role to play in the Peace Process as he is credited with.

    It wasn't stealing, they were not 'caught' it is something they are legally entitled to and numerous governments (of all parties) have claimed.

    He could have easily brass-necked it out, and kept it, and there wasn't that much heat on him, but instead he gave it up, which puts huge pressure on the rest of them.

    He probably did it because he was getting questions down at the local, but it isn't fair to ignore the fact that if he had wanted to, he could have kept taking it.

    Fairly sure thats a legal term.

    He still wants to be able to claim it when he retires, so he draws it and had it immediately given back to the state.

    thay've all made cnuts of themselves doing this after Maire was forced to drop hers, the sneaky arrogant fcukers!!!

    ahern made me laugh saying that he already dropped 25% and tried to point out the fact he didn't take the pay rise he was due meant that his pension could have been a lot bigger

    so are we to be greatful that the only pay rises he did take were when he was in power and didn't have to do one more hours work for it

    in fact we all know that instead of havin to work more they gave themselves more days off
