Sky Signal quality really low

    Hi,

I have problems with my Sky for the past few days. The signal strength is 100% but Signal quality looks like its about 25% or so.
My dish is located on a little balcony one apartment down and a new tenant had a party there which could have misaligned the dish.
However, if that were true and the dish became misaligned why would the signal strength still be at 100%?
I also thought it could be related to the ash cloud from the volcano that impacts signal quality but then more people would experience similar problems.

If anyone knows if moving the dish can diminish the signal quality while maintaining the signal strengh at 100% please let me know.

Also are there any other causes for sudden loss in signal quality?

    Thanks

Its not the ash anyway. i'd say the dish just moved. you could try getting someone to move it around and watch the levels.

Thanks, Yeah thats why I was wondering if the Signal strength is 100% doesn't that mean its perfectly aligned and moving makes it just worse or can the quality actually improve while the signal strength decreases (by moving)?

    Thanks

Signal strenth has nothing to do with what the dish is pointed at i think, it only has to do with the connection between the reciever and the lnb on your dish.

Why would your dish be on someones balcony ?

Surely your management company doesnt allow dishes on balconies. Most dont.

Is it a communal dish ? Then you will find that a company is contracted to fix it. Contact the management agent.

Its quite possible that him and his neigbour spit the costs of a dish between them? not everywhere is so strict on putting up dishes.

It's possible that the OP has a tuner fault with his sky box. I have came across this often over the years. His only way to find out would be to connect his sky box to a friends or family members dish and then check the signal strength and quality. or else contact an Independant installer to put a meter on the cable to check the signal.
