Can't Reset BIOS - Acer Aspire 9420 Laptop (EDIT: Solved)

I have a friends laptop that I foolishly decided to work on. Anyway I need to reset the BIOS and have fully dismantled the laptop, unplugged the CMOS battery and still the BIOS is asking for a password upon re-assembly. I have tried various backdoor passwords also which won't work either.

I can't seem to locate a jumper/switch to perform the reset.

Can anybody shed some light on the matter?

Solution: I left the cmos battery disconnected from the motherboard overnight and upon re-assembling it the next day the BIOS was reset succesfully

forget about it doesnt work on laptops removing cmos battery,password reset will have to be done by ringing acer

Did you short out the CMOS battery connections using something like a non-magnetised head of a screwdriver while holding down the power button?

Obviously make sure the battery is out and the power cord unplugged when you do this.

Nope, did not try that.

Actually I have reset the BIOS now. I re-assembled it just there now after leaving the cmos battery disconnected overnight and it did the trick. Time for a clean install.
