What is with the ridiculous channel names ?

First we had Dave +1 changing to the too-clever-for-its-own-good "Dave ja vu" - making it harder to spot in the EPG - and Gold changing to "Go On Laugh Daily" by putting dots between the letters.

And now the "exactly-what-it-says-on-the-tin" Sci-Fi channel is called something ridiculous like "SyFy", while still pronouncing it....."Sci-Fi" but looking like some ridiculous illiterate text-speak.

Why can't they leave well enough alone ? :(

That's the way things seem to be going now! BTW I insist on calling SciFi by it's new name 'Siffy' here, much to the annoyance of the household. Next thing they'll have poor Ann Doyle doing the 9 o'clock news in gangsta rapping style!

Wasn't Playboy One on channel 911. Playboy TV closed that down so the 911 EPG slot went to someone else.

they should give Ann her own channel i say! only the next problem would be they'd have to come up with a snazzy name for it!

ANN? - Anne's News Network, then change it to FOXy!! :P

I think they change the names every so often just as a marketing gimmick or something like that..has to be.

I think the sci fi channel in the states broadcasts under the banner SyFy so at least they may have some method to their madness.

Dave is my favourite name for a tv channel. :)
