Spotlight not searching and finding my files any more

Spotlight no longer seems to be able to find my files. Anytime I click on "All Images" or "Movies" it only displays one or two of them.

Similarly, when I type in the name of a file in the search box nothing appears except a spinning wheel at the bottom of the Finder box and a line which reads "Searching Macintosh HD".

Any ideas? It used to search almost instantly.

PS 320 GB of my 500 GB is full and I am using Snow Leopard. I also have Google Quick Search Box installed.

Try re-indexing (might take a while):

If Sad Professor's method doesn't work, there's always the manual (hardcore) way! :-D

Open Terminal (Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal.app) and run the following command:

    sudo mdutil -E

    Here's a screenshot of it:

Having problems with this again. My Mac re-indexes grand but every time I reboot I have to manually re-index it. Any ideas?
