Hi

My dell laptop screen doesn't seem to be working, I didn't drop it or anything. When I turned it on a random day it stayed blank but the computer does seem to be booting ok.

I took it to a computer repair shop and he said the screem was completely gone and it would cost 300 Euro just for the part from dell!

If I was to buy the part online and do it myself, would this fix it or is there something wrong with the hard drive part too? I dont want to buy the screen, fix it and find it not that thats wrong with it at all ( if that makes sense?)

Can you connect to monitor or TV via S-Video or VGA (if you have it)?? When you connect and if you see your lappy working it means that screen gone. What's the size of the screen is it?? You can get it on ebay (much cheaper then from Dell)

He said that he hooked it up to a external monitor and it was working. Would buying a screen and changing it fix the problem. Its 15.4 Screen.

If he said that (hopefully he don't lie) it means that lappy works and you can change screen (just in case check it if it's working on external before you buy new screen).
