Well I don't know why everyone is getting excited because they opened ni,scottish airspace and a few european airspaces which were bullied into it. (stupid foriegn airlines think they know it all!) You wont be able to fly anywhere besides scotland or the north of england because everywhere else is shut and pretty sure very few people are flying to scotland.

Click on Ctrl+R it will refresh the page as often as you wish. Doesn't look that dramatic at the moment although I'd not be surprised if it give another big belch later on.

You can refresh the page yourself, image updates every 5 to 10 seconds. Plume has gotten a bit smaller again in the past hour and wind has changed a bit.

This morning it was practically nonexistant.
Around midday, it has reappeared, but was mostly white. It has increased greatly a few hours ago, and turned black. A bit smaller since, and the wind seems to go around, it changes direction often currently.

I wonder if it would be a bad idea to open a fresh thread as this one has got rather cumbersome?

Lock it down to only those posters who can send in a voice recording of them correctly pronouncing the volcanos name.

Should keep the post count down.

Tried it, still couldn't do it. Oddly, it becomes easier to pronounce it if you cover your mouth with your hand while saying it

Just a question. Would you risk going on a plane tomorrow? Do you think it's too soon? I would be fairly hesitant :p

I'd be the same tbh, but then again if I was stranded somewhere since Thursday I don't think I'd be hesitant to jump on the next flight I could get home

Pretty much every day of the year there are SIGMET volcanic ash advisories out for Etna, as there are now for Eyja.....Ejya......Enya, though in most cases not to the same extent. Though it is an issue for traffic at Catania. For example, here's the latest:
    WVIY31 LIIB 191545
LIRR SIGMET 04 VALID 191615/192215 LIMM-
LIRR ROMA FIR FBL VA MT ETNA (LAST OBS 110430Z BY LICZ) EXT 15 NM E
    OF ETNA FL070/100 MOV ESE 25 KT=

Volcanic Ash extending 15 nautical miles east of Etna between 7,000-10,000ft, moving east southeast at 25 knots.

Good Idea. Lets just nickname the bugger Enya. Thats easier to pronounce:cool:
