I have a feeling Gerrard and Torres will be 'injured' if Liverpool have nothing to play for.

Gone for the rest of the season all rite.

*waits for someone to make a joke about the dodo being extinct*

    Is he still with United?

Lads, what ever happened with Dodo?
It would seem that Utd. have first refusal on him.
Manchester United are preparing a move for young Corinthians defender Dodo, to thwart alleged interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona, according to The Mirror.

The Red Devils reportedly have an agreement in place with the Brazilian club for first refusal on buying the budding 18-year-old talent until 2013, when he turns 21.

However, firm interest from the two giants of Spanish football is believed to have caused Sir Alex Ferguson to be in favour of a pre-emptive strike, and snap up the Brazilian Under-17 international during the summer transfer window.

Dodo, who is said to have been monitored by United scouts over the past year, can play at either left-back or in the centre of defence.

what a weekend; didn't see any of it, but f*ck me.

i've had this feeling since the fixtures came out, and it became clear that Chelsea and Utd would probably be vying for the title, that Liverpool would hand Utd the 19th.

it will happen, and i will be ill for weeks.

No Torres gives us a real chance even at Anfield.

It's still very unlikely we'll win it, but it would be the sweetest way possible to get 19, and 4th in a row.:P

I can see it happening as well but have to stay positive. Us and United have been woeful this season being honest, we are as bad as each other!

My first impression is that that minority shareholding for the fans will have fùck all effect on the running of the club. Presumably the Red Knights will be putting forward a management plan for the fans to view before asking for the investment in shares. Might be some difficult, lesser of two evil type choices on the horizon for the fans. Should lead to some interesting debates in the finance thread anyway ;)

They're keeping the bond issue in place. Isn't that what the fuss is about?
No, there's also the PIK debt... there's details on it and a discussion in the finance thread knockin around somewhere

I'm hoping Stoke beat you to it. Both Utd and Chelsea have tough games to go , Nobody is going to be handed the title, It's still Chelsea's to lose.

Daily Star, maybe others, is reporting this morning that Fergie will step down at the end of next season, to be replaced by Mourinho.

    http://www.dailystar.co.uk/football/view/131436/ALEX-FERGUSON-OUT-JOSE-MOURINHO-IN/
SIR Alex Ferguson will quit Manchester United at the end of next season – and Jose Mourinho will succeed him.

Ferguson aims to complete an unprecedented 25 seasons in charge at Old Trafford before calling time on the most successful managerial career in history.

By then, the man who took over in November 1986, hopes to have steered United to a record number of title wins and, hopefully, a third Champions League success.

Starsport understands United have already lined up the charismatic Mourinho, currently in charge of Inter Milan. Ferguson, who will be 69 on December 31, has been involved in discussions about his successor for the past few years.

Mourinho, who recently talked about his love-hate relationship with Italian football, earmarked himself as a potential successor to the remarkable Ferguson six years ago when his Porto team knocked United out of the Champions League at Old Trafford – and went on to lift the trophy.

Mourinho then took over at Chelsea and, for two years, dented United’s domination of the Premier League.

He is desperate to return to England – and the United job is the one he wants most of all.

Ferguson has delivered an amazing 11 Premier titles to Old Trafford and, after the weekend’s results, is poised to make it 12.

That would mean a record 19 Championships for the club, a milestone many people thought would signal Ferguson’s retirement.

But he has no intention of stepping aside yet. Ferguson’s retirement has been a closely-guarded secret ever since he did a dramatic U-turn in 2002.

Since then, Ferguson has led the club to a second Champions League success and four league titles. Now, just one point behind Chelsea after Saturday’s results, United are poised to claim yet another Premier League crown. And, still, Ferguson will want more.

The man who moved from Aberdeen to transform United from sleeping giant into the most successful club in the country is an almost impossible act to follow. United have decided Mourinho is the man to give it a go.

Story seems more like a fan wishing something to happen rather than a story they have actually picked up. I wouldn't expect any quotes in the article, but there is nothing at all in it. there is nothing that makes it seem like Mourinho may have agreed to this in behind the scenes negotiations or anything similar.

I have said before that I would like Mourinho as the next manager as I believe the person that takes over from Fergie will need experience and the arrogance to not be overawed by the prospect of taking over from one of the best managers in the game who was there for 25 years. I don't like his style of football, but his approach to management (of the entire club) reminds me of Ferguson and I think he is the best choice, overall, for the job. I also think he would love to manage United. However, I also think he would like a shot at managing Liverpool and the challenge of knocking United off their perch, as it were. So, if the Liverpool job becomes available in the summer, I reckon there is a good chance he will take it. If he is still at Inter next season, I would imagine there is a very good chance of him becoming the next United manager.

Mourinho has openly said he wants to manage united. Ferguson talks about his health will decide when he retires but its common sense that he also needs to wait until there is a suitable replacement.

    Star is a rag.

Fergie said he will be out by 70.

So next season is his last.

There will be no u-turn this time.

Could not agree more, its as if neither team could be bothered win. Even Arsenal got in on the act the brief periods they were challenging. Certainly has been one of the strangest seasons I can remember, and I thought last season coud not be topped for strangeness.

I'm fairly certain last thing Fergie has said on the subject is that he wants to manage as long as his health allows him to, don't remember him saying that he will be gone by 70 (at least not recently, I think he may have mentioned it in relation to Bobby Robson being in the game so long)

agreed. the timing does need to be right. There is a case of Fergie holding on till the right man is available to take over. However, if that right man was available in the summer, and being approached by Real Madrid, or Liverpool, or even City, would Fergie step down in order to ensure United get the right man (who they have, hypothetically, pinpointed). I don't think he would.

As much as it may need Fergie to hold on, it could also just as easily need the right manager to wait for Fergie to move on. Personally, I would be surprised if Mourinho is at Inter next season, so if Mourinho is the man United and Fergie want to be the next United manager, they may have to rethink it, because I don't think he will be available summer 2011.

Mourinho is the most likely, I couldn't imagine him going to Liverpool without a budget but seeing as it's looking like they'll have new owners I guess it's more than possible now...

i'll rephrase it, 'i have a feeling Liverpool will put the title's destination into Utd's hands'.

    there.

Tom Cleverley got Watford player of the year. Given their position in the league I can't imagine there has been many stand out performances. Himself and Lansbury looked a class or two above the rest when I saw them.

(think it was fan voted, he didn't get players' player of the year, John Eustace got that.

A friend of mine supports them and he says he really has been superb for them. Has chipped in with a few goals and was really missed when he missed a few games with suspension recently. Don't think he'll ever really make it at Utd though but could be a good PL player. Wolves are interested apparently.

United were far superior tactically with Carlos at the club imo - Ferguson speaks of him in absolutely glowing terms.

Perhaps so, but his man-management skills for one leave a lot to be desired.
