How about yourself Marie, what you planning on winning the race in ??!!??!!??;)

Ah I should fly around in some amazing time! Can't even estimate it because Im not sure of my own speed and endurance! Not!!
My marathon p.b is 3:53:17, so I would love to beat that, but if Im being honest, my boyfriends marathon pb is 3:51:49 so I would really really love to beat that! Haven't done all the training I would like but life happens so will just have to make the most of it :)

Hoping to scrape in under 4hrs too - have nowehere near enough long runs done and if this race wasn't in Limerick there's no way i'd be doing a marathon this early in the year. If I don't completely fall apart before/during/or immediately afterwards I may have a crack at Dublin later in the year.

My main goal this year is to set a PB for 10k - the last 6 10k's i've done have all been within 30 secs of each other which is quite frustrating  Targeting Ennis and Bilboa in June so fingers crossed that some speed work over the next few weeks on top of the marathon training will improve times

Ok Im a little nervous now, just saw yer mileage for this year so far and I am seriously lagging behind ye. Am I a naive fool for aiming for the same time target as ye? I guess I will just have to wait and see.......

On a positive note I went for a run last night and took 1:44 off my time for a 4.6mile run - getting better at the mile long hill on the golf links road, and got rid of my stitch, expanding the chest while exhaling, instead of pushing on the diaphragm made all the difference.

Well went for another easy paced "Am-I-really-injured-or-not" run last night on the pitches in UL last night. Ran for about an hour or so with no major hitches (avoiding the Archery Team and the cricket fast bowlers were the main problems) so might do the same again later in the week and hope the dry needling does the trick on Monday.

Haven't updated the predicted finish time table yet because:
a) want to wait to see how the next few days go
b) haven't figured out how to update the actual table yet:confused:

Just press the Quote button on the last post with the table in it.
Delete the bit with the square brackets at the start and end of the post e.g. "QUOTE=Cartman78;65414366" and "/QUOTE".
Highlight and copy one of the other lines, paste it and edit it with your details

Hope the next few days go well

there you go Cartman, all you need to do now is:
quote the table
fill in the numbers instead of the x's
remove the quote tabs, so your post starts with "[table" and finishes with

No way, you've done close to it before so you know what you're talking about. I'm looking to take an hour off of my DCM 09 time  so that's where I'm coming from. Your previous times are money in the bank for you whereas I'm trying to go into a whole new territory. Your Connemara Half was on target in difficult conditions. You'll be on home turf and a flat course so no bother to you.

.

Thats a massive improvement so obviously you're in top form. Take it home girl :)

Cheers for table updating tips - would be happy with 3:50 but in reality I think Cartman himself could probably run 26.2 miles faster than me at the moment

Really not enjoying the taper thing....... again!!!.......

Did 7 miles last night and cycled to work this morning, Which means I'll have to cycle home. I'll see how things are later tonight and might go for 8. where to stop!!! I won't be doing anything runs longer than 12/13ish miles between now and the marathon.

How is evryone else managing witht the taper!!??!!??

Not sure exactly how my taper is going to work out :(.

Did my third 20M on 27/3 and was due to do 22M last w'end but opted for the Connemara Half on Sunday with the intention of adding on miles. The sun and the hills blew the last part of that idea out of the water :o so I rested Mon, did 5M Tues, 11.5M Wed, another 5M tomorrow and thinking of doing 16M this w'end before bringing it back down over the last 2 weeks rather than 3 weeks. I don't think I did enough volume last week to be tapering this week as I took it easy with Connemara in mind.

Next weeks plan is Mon rest, Tues track, 1-2 5milers and then 10M at the w'end, repeating that the following week without the 10M :) (but a pesky m'thon instead).

Just had an eerie feeling that someone is looking over my shoulder as I see over 12,400 views of this thread, yet only a small number of posters!:)

If there's anyone out there who wants to say or ask something, please step forward....we don't bite! ;)

There's a lot of people doing the 10km run and this thread is for them too.

Speaking of the 10km, when is the cut off for registration ?
Haven't been able to find anything on the site.
Won't know for another week if I might give this a go....

:( Did something not good to my left calf on my long run yesterday about 9M in. Had to pull up sharply and limp from the canal to the Travelodge where I phoned for a lift home :(. Limping since and can only get an appointment with the physio for Wed afternoon. Looks like my taper plan will be changing to 2 weeks rest minimum and a question mark over the m'thon until closer to the day.

Mind yourselves people - I don't know where that calf thing came from so wrap yourselves up in cotton wool and take it easy. :o

Hi Guys,

Just wondering is it just the normal info@....com email address we email to change race?

I cant find a link on site.

Thanks

Sorry to hear that RedB - sounds like a classic case of overtraining unfortunately. Very hard to stop yourself from doing that extra mile when you're feeling tip-top - did something similar myself the week before last so took it very easy last week (4 runs - 5k, 12k, 8k and 7k). Was due to go to physio this evening by my physio is stranded in Spain I think so won't get treatment til Thursday.

Might do some core work and Pilates in the kitchen tonight instead and pick up a human body sized quantity of cotton wool from Dunnes on the way home:)

Really sorry to hear this RedB - you have been doing fantastic training. Fingers crossed that the news is good on Wednesday, let us know what they say.

I went playing soccer on Saturday ater my run and I am quite simply not able kick a ball properly! Pain since but Im hoping a couple of days and it will be fine again.

My initial goal of sub 80 isn't gonna happen so gonna settle for getting around in 85. Just looking at the map on the official website, and it looks like the last mile involves running across Henry St up to O'Connell St at the same time as others will be running down Henry St and on towards City Hall. There could be collisions!

Looking at the table, I feel like a bit of a pussy below all of you heroes who will be hammering around for the full 26.2...I doff my cap!
