    I agree with points 1-3.

Point 4 I'm so sure about. £90m is a hell of a lot of money. I'd imagine all united fans are fed up Real Madid during transfer windows.

but the 90 million is short term.

By selling Rooney, United announce to the world that they are, in fact, a selling club. They sell their only really world class player, the most marketable star attraction, they sell the star of United. All that instantly reduces the marketability of United, instantly reduces the money United can command in any commercial dealings.

Also, if the 90million went straight off the debt, then the team has no chance on the pitch, and without on pitch success the club would be completely screwed. If only half of it was put off the debt, you have still reduced the competitiveness of the team on the pitch, without making all that significant a dent in the interest - just one years interest repayments.

I just don't see a good reason to sell Rooney, it would negatively effect the club far too much for it to be a good business or football decision.

I don't get why he was never involved in the first team picture at United.

Looking forward to tomorrows game now, I thought I would miss it. I need a good Manchester Derby.

Yeah, he done well with the first from a tight angle and it was very nice play and a good finish for the second. I'm still not sure if he will get much of a chance in Utd's first team next season though.

Actually watching the Cologne match now on ESPN. Tosic is playing better than I ever saw him for United. He looks superb.

Reckon he'll be back at the club next year or let go?

Sorry if you were trying to avoid the result and I ruined it by posting that video, I didn't realise it was on.

I'm not sure at the moment, Obertan and Nani would be ahead of him for the left side at the moment, I suppose it will depend on how he does at the world cup and whether Utd. get a satisfactory offer.

No probs at all man. Had checked score already on Livescores and just conveniently came on. He scored early too so that made watching it easier. :)

Good point about the World Cup though, can be a great shop window if SAF doesn't feel like he can make it at United.

tbf we hardly ever saw him in the 1st team
concerning him back to utd next season, Koln dont have an option to buy so that's a good sign and regarding the players ahead of him imo he should be ahead of obertan. tosic brings alot more to the table like set pieces

btw can anyone tell me what position was he playing in tonight's game ?

According to redcafe, they do have an option to buy, but are unlikely to be able to afford him.

Think he was playing right wing, his preferred position.

Well I did somehow just get banned from there, without posting for a day or 2, so that leaves only one option: My own imagination. I'll get back to you when I've played out a likely scenario in my head.

Was watching this on ESPN Classic on Friday:

What a great match. I remember Tyler's line well. "And coming in behind him was ROY KEANE!"

    Berbatov admits failings
Dimitar Berbatov admits that he could have contributed more to Manchester United this season, and insists he wants to stay at Old Trafford.

Reports are rife that the £30million man will be sold this summer as Sir Alex Ferguson looks to move him on.

Berbatov signed in 2008 from Tottenham - but despite hitting double figures in both campaigns with the club, he has failed to recapture his Spurs form with United.

The Bulgarian, though, is determined to prove his worth.

"People have not have seen the real Berbatov this season. I wish I could have done more," he told the Sun.

"At Spurs I scored more goals with less problems - and now at United it is very difficult for me.

"But I am calm about my future.

"The rumours surrounding me don't affect me.

"I have a deal and nobody has told me that I do not enter into plans for next season.

"My relationship with the manager is normal, like any other professional in the squad.

"I am here because he wanted me, this is very important. I work every day to perfect my game and to play at weekends.

"But it is not easy to offer the maximum without playing more minutes.

"At Tottenham I played with a different system in comparison with United.

"So it's impossible to compare my work. And I am not worried by the critics.

"In football to be a forward is hard because people analyse errors more than successes.

"Wayne has had a sensational season and scored 34 goals and I think that we are compatible playing alongside each other.

"But if the coach decides to play with only one forward I understand that Wayne Rooney is first choice."

    Second title
Berbatov is hoping he can claim his second title with United.

"My dream is to triumph at Manchester United and to win another Premier League title. After recent results it is true that Chelsea are closer than us," he said.

"But we want to fight to the very last minute.

"Until it is mathematically impossible we shall battle the Blues all the way.

"Perhaps the key to our season was the two matches against Chelsea.

"We didn't get a victory and that's the difference in the table."

He is also looking forward to Saturday's derby clash with Manchester City.

"A derby is even more important in Manchester given the passion of the supporters," he explained.

"Those three points are crucial for our morale and position in the table. A draw is of no interest to either team.

"To beat City at Eastlands would confirm we are the best team in this city - and that is very important."

At least he doesn't whinge about playing second fiddle to Rooney, unlike a certain handsome Argie.

In fairness though Tevez has been well worth his transfer fee, has Berbatov? I for one could never understand bringing Berbatov in at the expense of having to let Tevez go but, I guess they are different types of players.

I don't think Berba has justified his fee, no. He hasn't been as bad as you would think if you read some of the stuff people say on here and there are reasons such as the system which go some way to explaining it. But for a club record 30 million he should indeed be doing way more.

The fact that he at least realises he is very much second in line to Rooney and accepts that fact is at least some small consolation.

That's fair enough. Would you prefer Tevez to still be at the club and not have bought Berbatov at all? He wouldn't be banging them in like he is at City, but I think he'd start most games just behind Rooney (did he play out wide much?) and absolutely work his socks off. I loved Tevez when he was at United, probably one of the only United players I've liked for a long time!

I loved Tevez when he played for United and think he's an amazing player. But theres simply no place for him in the team in the current formation Fergie employs. So he'd have been stuck on the bench for long stretches of the season again, which, unlike Berba, he isn't happy to put up with.

He doesn't have to be on the bench to be in the squad.

In his first season he played up front with Rooney - much to a lot of people's surprise - and the tow were devastating. Obviously trying to accommodate Ronaldo, and bringing in Berbatov, meant that Tevez was going to be marginalised.

Still and all you can see for yourself what kind of impact Tevez can have when he's given regualr football.

Of course, hes been brilliant for City. But as I said if he was still at United he'd have been stuck on the bench. he simply doesn't fit into their tactics at the moment and if he's not happy to play second fiddle then he was right to move.

Oh absolutely, I agree. Still feel that Fergie could've used a bit of foresight though. He probably knew Ronaldo was going to leave, that Rooney would occupy a more central role, why not sign Tevez and revert to a 4-4-2 again? Even with the signing of Valencia and the way the team is set up a lot of the time (especially in non-"big" games) is 4-4-2 with conventional wingers.
