Octavia driveshaft change

OK, I've ordered a new driveshaft for my motor, I'm pretty competent with a toolkit but I've never tackled a driveshaft change before. Is it going to be straight forward or am I going to run into difficulties? The gearbox end of the shaft is a "dry" joint so thats not a problem, its the wheel side I'm not 100% on. Once I let go the gearbox end of shaft will the splined end on the wheelside just push out or is there something else holding it in place? Any advice welcome.

A big nut I expect. Haven't done an octavia but every shaft I have seen has one. Probably has a split pin too.

Yeah just undo the nut. Prob a 30 or 32. And seperate the wishbone from the hub. That bit can be awkward sometimes

Thanks guys, Why seperate the wishbone from the hub? just to give more room to drop the shaft?

Yea your going to need to pull the hub towards you to get the drive shaft out of the middle. Some times the splines that go into the hub can be a little hard to remove.

Also from memory the wheel bearing will be quite week once the drive shaft is unbolted/removed, so be carefully with it.
