BBC and ITV HD on Sky HD box without Sub

Is it possible to get BBC and ITV HD on the Sky HD box without the HD sub of €15 a month? I was told that Sky turn off the HD function if you don't pay the HD sub. So is it possible to tune and add BBC and ITV HD to other channels and watch the programs in HD?
Also will I be able to record on the from BBC and ITV HD?
Seems Sky are giving out HD boxes without the HD sub so if I can get the Sky HD box and watch the world cup in HD the installation charges will be worth it

Yes. They can be viewed without a subscription. They will need to be tuned in to Other Channels though if using an Irish card.0 -
