Almost feel bad for poor Fabio, he's not going to get a sniff at United with Evra playing consistently good year in year out

Actually we need a back up left back badly. Fabio being injury prone has held him back, means he hasn't been able to get enough game in the CC, Fa Cup, or any dead rubber games to show that he could stand in when Evra needs a rest.

John O Shea can play there though

Yeah, but I would prefer someone who is actually designated to cover there, and have O'Shea as extra cover for the back four.

    Rafeal/Brown - for RB

    Rio/Vidic/Evans - for CB

    Evra/Fabio - for LB

O'Shea covering everywhere, or even starting at right back, though Rafeal should be developed long term.

Others like Smalling, De Laet etc hanging around the fringes and being developed.

It is in the Sun that his agent thinks it would be best if he went on loan to Sporting next season. It also says Fabio wants to talk to SAF about it at the end of the season. Might be some truth in it as he is not getting any game time with Evra starting every game.

remind me who was RB during one of your best ever seasons from the defensive side of things last season.

Ireland's best player in the WC qualifiers too.

I just won't have bad words said against John O'Shea. P.m. me your home address. I'm coming round to punch you in the back of the head. You've earned it.

Id take two signings of the midfield mould, although priority has to lie with one with an eye for goal. Stephen Ireland or James Milner would fit the bill and I think would be a success, they have excelled at two smaller teams in the Premiership and Id love to see Ireland particularly playing with Rooney, surely a deadly combination??
Milner would be very handy, excellent on the wing and through the middle and can cover most positions on the pitch.
Id love too see someone like Rodwell come in aswell, a proper partner for Fletcher, holding the midfield togther for an attacking quartet of Nani,Valencia,Rooney and A.Another.

Can't see us having the money for any superstars, doubt we'll spend more than 40 mill, and even if we did spend that much, id nearly be suprised.

I've only seen Milner in small doses, tbh, but from the comments I've read on here, he doesn't have great ball control and passing, any truth in that?

I think we'd need someone who could hold the ball to wait for a pass, something which I don't see Carrick doing properly, he seems to fcuk it anywhere within 0.5seconds of getting the ball or holding onto it too long and eventually getting bullied off it.

Yea, well he's defo not in same mould of Ireland, but brings alot of intensity to the game, he's more a consistent park with goals to his armoury i guess.

I reckon Ireland can do that holding roll too combined with creativity and goals

I do not believe tha Stephen Ireland would have the temperment to cope with the pressure of playing for a club with the expectations of a club like Man Utd. I would fear for his relatives when the pressure hit.

has he not been a major flop,

or are ye now looking for players who have shown promise but whose value has declined so you have a chance of buying now?

Ireland would be perfect for us, he is a very very good player. I assume City would never sell to us though (which I'm actually sort of about because of his behaviour with the national team).

One for the future maybe but hardly gonna hold the midfield together considering he still is a squad player at Everton. People are also saying he is a box to box player(what we need) but long term a centre half. Would rather go for Fellaini.

Thought Modric was superb the other nite but his passing and his ability to hold the ball up is nowhere near Scholes in his peak so doubt he would transform Uniteds midfield unless there was a better midfielder than Carrick there to support him.

All the mornings papers have Fergie said to be chasing Milner on the back page.

Doubt there's any quotes or anything, but the fact it's in a lot of the rags may say something.

Perez has a record of getting his man - as United will testify, losing David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo to Madrid.

Beckham was surplus to requirements when he went to Madrid and Ronaldo wanted to go to long before Perez.

Rooney won't leave Man U and if Fabregas is going anywhere, it'll be to Barca.

That made me smile , I like it. I don't agree mind, he must be pretty strong mentally when you think of how he has coped with the pressure he has put himself under.

I would be concerned about him physically. Though apparently given the all clear after his health scare in the Fulham game, He has not played all that much for city since . That may be a coincidence but it does raise a suspicion with me that there may be underlying issues, particularly considering he was on of the best players at their club last season.

I would be perfectly happy if Rodwell + Milner was the extent of our summer fun.
