Hi I am wondering which university is better for science ,I know what course I want to do so I dont need a big selection of degrees to choose from,
I live closer to trinity than UCD ,I'm just wondering is there any real difference between them?
    Thanks

You're gonna get a similar degree at the end. Look at the possible specialisations, the course set up etc. in each prospectus and visit the universities. You can always transfer if you go to one and hate it. Take into account the commute etc. Make the decision for yourself. If it comes down to it and you still can't decide, flip a coin, cover it with your hand then ask yourself which side you wanted it to be.

    Hi
Well the commute to TCD is less,I visited both at open days, and like both places,I want to do earthscience ,I am not sure which is better for that,Are people friendly in TCD are how goodlooking are the chicks?

I've friends that did Geology/Earth sciences in both unis. I'm inclined to speculate that neither is significantly better or worse overall than the other. The both do a lot of field trips that really seem like tests of your endurance rather than anything geological. The science programmes in UCD is a lot more open than in TCD, I think you may have opportunities to take courses from other departments earlier. Like you could do Geology and Computer Programming in first year but as I've said before on this forum about this, bit of a double edged sword.

It's commonly accepted that TCD in general has a bigger international reputation that UCD (especially in the UK and America) but I've no idea how they match up for geology/earth science, but mind you, in my opinion this really is only relevant at graduate level.

It's hard to say which has the nicer girls. UCD is bigger, and it's courses are larger in general, so there are a lot more people doing college for the buzz in it in my opinion. A lot of these are lovely little things.

But as a earth sciences guy you've really not to worry about this, Geology rocks stickers on your bag won't get you any chicks.

Maybe he's onto something, perhaps there's a genetic correlation between facial bone structure and CAO choice. Like in phrenology the way all the black people went to africa...

Hmmm... well, I'm a chick, and I cant really pinpoint what it is that makes me think this, but there's something about you that really says "UCD" to me...
That said, I'd hate for you to deprive all the beautiful girls at trinity of a chance to make you "happy" (whatever you meant by that ;) )

Id always reccommend trinity-except in your case.

Go to ucd, the girls there are "Fit" according to the guys I know there

Ok, my vote is head to Trinity, you're a good laugh to have about the boards!

Also, on a side note, I have to laugh at the fact that we all give out about Denerick and others' persistent Cantab-ery, but then when someone comes on from outside the forum and says something a bit stupid, we all lambaste them in decidedly snobbish tones. Gotta love TCD boards :D

Hmm....I have heard stories about some of the dumber girls being tricked into *ahem* "collecting semen samples" which they thought were for a project or something. Not that i'd condone that sort of behaviour or anything (seriously you have to wonder about the screening process these days... Seems just about anyone can get into trinity).

Anyway, you are doing a science course. Science girls are generally not as attractive due to their higher than normal testosterone which allows for their interest in science. I'd imagine the girls in ucd science are not much better. Thankfully there are plenty of attractive (if airheaded) females down the arts block.

    no ,no it's not.
I know that the 'chicks' which I refer to as being hot ,also have to be smart or 'brainy' as my classy tone would say.
My conclusion is that anyone who gets 30% in chemistry is not a brainy hot chick.

Sure the arts block is only a walk away,I'm not talking about in my class, I mean in the entire college :)

In all honesty, you seem to have no idea of the difference between Leaving Cert and third level education, which is nothing exceptional in itself, but worth noting.

You come with me, you be my wife!

P.S. I was just trying to say that you'll get nowhere applying LC standards to college work, which is probably where I slipped up. It's not like "it's waaay harder, and your puny teenage mind would never handle the sheer magnitude of chemistry expected of you in college."

Oh the naivety. Why would arts block girls bother with science dorks when there are rippling towers of arts man muscle surrounding them on a daily basis.
