Somewhere in between the Times and the Sun, between love and hate, between newspaper and comic, between Saturday and Monday.... Lies the Sunday Indo.

I'm an Irish Times person myself. But the independent is literally a very small step above the mail. Their headlines are a joke example

Alliteration is usually left to the domain of the tabloids. And then theres that bigoted, misinformed idiot Eilis O'Hanlon.

That fecker Quinn writes for them as well, doesn't he?

    Example of Eilis O'Hanlon's stupidity

Gender identity disorder-invented by greedy consumerists, not a well recognized condition apparent generally from early childhood. Theres a woman who knows what she's talking about

I can't read that rag, everytime I try I need to stop and take a walk out of pure frustration and anger. The crowd of 6th-rate hacks that infest it symbolise everything wrong with this country, from Harris the 'senator' appointed for his grovelling paeans to Bertie and FF, the bigoted anti-PS and economic illiterate Eilis O'Hanlon and last but not least that smug f***er Brendan O'Connor who cheered on the housing bubble and now blames public sector workers for the crisis. This shower of degenerates = journalistic prostitution at its worst.

The Sunday Indepenedent is a tabloid masquerading as a broadsheet. End of story. If there's even any argument that it's anything more than a rag then it's a damning indication of the progressive retardation of Irish society.

    +1

I gave up buying it the time they tried to imply - via a massive headline - that Limerick would be worse than Glasgow with "one more killing".....

Glasgow was - apparently - the "murder capital" at the time, and so statistically was more likely to have another killing within the same timeframe.

So the headline was sensationalist bull****.

I wrote to them stating all the facts and they didn't bother publishing it, and we covered the facts on the radio and they were too chicken to contribute to the show, so I just decided that they weren't worth buying anymore.

A distinction needs to be made between the sunday indo and the indo during the week. The daily one is alright. Sunday is just pure muck
The distinction isn't all that great. Since Ger Colleran moved from editing the Star to the Indo the paper has been in terminal decline. This might not be borne out in sales but in terms of quality it's a mess. The Sindo is an even greater mess but then again it always has been. The bootlicking articles of O' Connor & Egan would quickly bring your Sunday roast back up.
