I am starting a new job in Cherrywood in Cabinteely next week and was wondering the best way to get there on public transport from carpenterstown/castleknock area. I know its miles away!! it took me over 2 hours to get there last week, so was wondering if anyone knows of any private buses etc.?

    Thanks for your help!!:o

Hi there. The Help Desk is for people experiencing problems with the site rather than for general queries.

However, as a Cabinteely native living in D15 I'm afraid I have to tell you that there isn't any direct route that I know of using public transport. The best suggestions I can come up with are to get the train from Castleknock into Connolly, the DART from there to Dun Laoghaire and the 7 bus to Cherrywood. Alternatively head into town and get the 7 directly from O'Connell Street to Cherrywood. Not every 7 goes there though, so you'd need to check the timetable.

I'll move this over to the Commuting & Transport forum and maybe someone over there will have a better suggestion.

A train to Pearse and the 145 to Cherrywood is more quick than the 7 though it leaves you a bit of a walk from the N 11.

Agreed on the 145, its the fastest route there by far. Or you could look for a apartment or room in Tullyvale.

Probably best to get the train from Coolmine or Castleknock to Tara Street and a short walk to D'Olier Street for the 145, Eden Quay for the 84, or to O'Connell Bridge for the 7 (note only those buses denoted by "c" in the timetable below serve Cherrywood)

I suspect that the 37x is too late for you.

    Times are at:
7, 145 and 84 times and Maynooth line train times:

the 145 will be much faster than the 7 to Cherrywood. In the longer term luas will be an option, but not until end of 2010 at earliest.

who you working for up there, full tilt?
