Good Fish Restaurant in Dublin?

Hi all,

I have family coming over from England in May, their first time in Ireland, and my Grandad has asked to be taken to a proper fish restaurant in Dublin.

I'm looking for the kind of place that does Oysters and Dublin bay prawns etc, where you can get a big seafood platter and try a bit of everything...but not too expensive!!

Any recommendations? I live in County Louth so the North Side of Dublin is nearer for me...

If you're in Howth, loads of fresh fish restaurants - The King Sitric is probably the best known but can be pricey, alternatively Aqua is very good and have fabulous views - they also do a great early bird. If it's tapas style or something a little more casual, you could try Octopussys or The Oar House (both supplied by Dorans) Check out menupages.ie for menus and reviews and see what takes your fancy. Personally, I would recommend any of these restaurants, but at the end of the day it's down to value for money!

I would second AmberJack's post! Howth is definitly where you should go. Aqua or the Oar House are fantastic. And you can take a walk down the West Pier to see all the trawlers that have brought your dinner in! The views are great

Johnny Fox's do a lot of seafood (but its pricey)

I've never been to Bentley's, but I heard it's good for fish. The Lord Edward specialises in Fish also.

The Oar House in Howth, the food is great and its not over-priced like Aqua and King Citric:eek:

Hi

The best fish restaurant I have been to in Dublin was the Lord Edward in Christchurch.

Now it's very dated ( ie the decor is rather shabby and the menu is a little ' 80s' )

Now it was 3-4 years ago I went mind, has anyone been more recently and is it still as good ??
