Looks like Ryanair is going to charge for farting in future, or maybe the date of April first has more to do with it.

Charges for farting - read the article

A US airline has announced plans to charge US$45 for cabin baggage stowed in the overhead lockers starting August. Link to Sky News article.

What's the bets Ryanair do this before long?
When Ryanair gets around to introduce this US$45 will be 5 worth Euro, no biggie.

Sometimes people will use anything to bash Ryanair. And then sometimes they'll pretty much defend anything they do...

I flew to London with them in January, flight was delayed in Dublin for 2 hours due weather. We had boarded, and the doors were closed. Once we did move, we took a long taxi before departure, flew for an hour then taxied to the stand in Stansted. All told it took about 3hrs30mins. Should I have kept my piss that long?

Some charges you can avoid, but this one would be taking the piss (pardon the pun)

I don't defend everything they do, I am simply saying that they have charges which are easily avoided. Not once have I been charged for anything more than what is on the screen in front of me.

You know what they say? "Shít happens" :P

Look, it's one euro people are whining about. Are things really that bad? They're not.

    ryanair are brilliant.

i flew with them this morning for 12euro all included, people still were boarding the plane at 6.30 (in liverpool), we arrived in dublin at 7.05. they are fantastically efficient.

simple - you know what you get with them. you dont read their ts and cs, then expect to get a landing. there are no hidden charges, everybody clearly sees the final amount before they hit purchase. your an idiot if you cant follow their model.

i hope they bring in charges for baggage, cos it should mean cheaper flights. they have a very detailed business model. the amount of baggage some people bring, takes the pi*s for short flights. they should be charged for hand luggage.

500 posts, I'm off, adios amigos.

You can pretend I just went out for a bottle of milk or something and got delayed.

interestingly the Aer lingus rip off line seems to get rolled out on almost every aviation cost thread. . .

erm what does that tell ya.

It tells me that all the people who go on about being so smart that they can read terms and conditions and fly so cheaply that they are obviously superior to those dumb plebians who refuse to fly Ryanair, bring up Aer Lingus flights as being mega expensive, when in reality they aren't that much at all.

I like to fly at convenient times, to locations that are actually close to my destinations, and at affordable prices. Aer Lingus does that for me as well as Ryanair (most of the time better, especially with the locations part) and for a comparable price.

I detest Michael O'Leary refuse to give him my money.

    So do I.

So I will look at the range of flights available and choose the cheapest option after taking into account any additional credit card fees, baggage fees, fares for transport from the airport to my final destination etc.

If a Ryanair flight works out cheaper overall, I'll go with them. If Aer Lingus is cheaper, I'll go with them. I really do not see the point of discounting or sticking with any one airline. Which flight you buy and with whom should be decided on an individual basis.

Fecking Ryan Air, controlling the weather now.

do you honestly think they are fairies how the hell are they going to know if there is a delay!!

Hey look, it's a  overdose.

In the circumstances I described, do you think they will waive the €1 charge if somebody ask for a trip to the bathroom? As I understand it, they are proposing to bring this charge in for flights last 1hr, clearly in my case the 1hr was well exceeded.
I don't defend everything they do, I am simply saying that they have charges which are easily avoided. Not once have I been charged for anything more than what is on the screen in front of me.

They charge people to check-in for their flight. How the fúck do I avoid that, other than avail of one of their special promotions?

As I said on another thread about this, they'll drop it when people stop buying drinks on-board in case they need a piss. This is about a change in principles, they are moving away from the concept of charges you can avoid towards charges you can avoid of if it's the third Thursday of the month and the dolphins are in Kerry.

A need to use the bathroom is not really discretionary, what happens if somebody has a dose of the ****s and doesn't have any change?

Indeed, Ryanair flights only look cheap on paper but 90% of the time they are comparable to Aerlingus prices, people suggesting that Aerlingus fares are exorbitant are talking about the 1980's.

Sure your flight might cost a fiver but....

But then it costs you an extra 5 euro to book it on-line yourself.

Then there's the extra charge for using your credit card to do so...per ticket!

There are then the extra airport taxes and handling charges that are never mentioned. I don't buy a Mars bar and then get told at the till that there's an additional 10cent charge for the packaging it's in FFS, so I don't see why they are allowed exclude mandatory charges from the stated fare price (Aerlingus, I'm also looking at you!)

20 euro for priority boarding and insurance that were preselected for you in the hope that, having spent 20 minutes of fiddling with the deliberately obtuse booking settings, that you will just gives up and pay.

20 euro to bring a bag with you this summer!

40 Euro to get your boarding card because your printer just blew up and unlike Aerlingus, Ryanair won't let you save a copy of your boarding card as a PDF file onto your PC.

50 euro for a taxi or train transfer to the destination that you were flown near (sic) to.

And now a quid to take a slash if you get caught short...

There's a difference between being offered a cheap reliable service with optional extras and treating a customer with complete and utter contempt.
I never use Ryanair unless I have absolutely no other option.

Dealing with Ryanair remind me of that checkout scene in Intermission

Extremely easily avoidable. I don't find the system obtuse at all. It clearly states the amounts your paying and for what.

Which is a saving of 20 euro if you don't wish to check in a bag.

In the very unlikely event that your printer "blows up" you can always use your college/workplace/friend's printer of go to an internet cafe. Getting something printed is very cheap and easy. Of course the idiots who actually end up paying Ryanair €40 for this service simply make flights cheaper for the rest of us. Happy Days.

Depends on where you're going, and of course, you factor in this cost when evaluating the total cost of your journey.

Ryanair is not for people who are not good at keeping track of a lot of individual cost factors in their heads or those who do not wish to put a lot of thought into planning their holiday

Ryanair are NOT cheap anymore!! been looking to book a flight now since the start of the year and many of its competitors are a lot cheaper (shannon to gatwick/luton/heathrow or stansted)
thats on the face value of the ticket without including the €30 euro charge to use a normal debit card (laser) as i dont have the most obsecure debit card in the northern hemisphere (used to be visa electron is now mastercard debit )
even the ferry is cheaper, i worked out with the ferry and the petrol its cheaper, to drive especially since its 2 hours from galway to dublin.
mr o leary can shuve it i will drive lol

You can get a prepaid Master card from many shopping centres, and there are no Admin charges if you use it to pay for your flights online. I saved €150 on those charges for flights 5 of us are going on this Summer. It's discussed in this thread:

    Translation:

"In my particular circumstances, Ryanair is not the cheapest option for my journey"

I really don't see what the big deal with that is, or why you seem to view Ryanair with such contempt as a result.

maybe thats because your flying from dublin they charge you £10 to fly out of there... per person!!! if you fly from a uk airport it is far cheaper... i checked one time to see if they really added the charge and by the time the booking was done it was £100!! but with a uk airport it was only £5.....

    well that's your opinion.
personally. i prefer to keep as much money in my own pocket as possible and fly ryanair. some others like to give it away to aer lingus(and its over payed staff) and the government oh! and its biggest independent share holder... Michael O'Leary:confused:.
