A US airline has announced plans to charge US$45 for cabin baggage stowed in the overhead lockers starting August. Link to Sky News article.

What's the bets Ryanair do this before long?

Who? They ring a bell but I've managed to blank them from my life after I was forced to pay an extra 40 quid for them to print out my ticket.

There comes a time when the benefits of a cheap flight are outweighed by the poxy charges. This would be that time.

They're bringing in the €1 euro fee to use the toilet on a flight. I'd say the next step is another €4 euro to flush it.

Whatever they do, it won't be looking for the Government to bail them out.

Your own fault for not actually reading anything... It's there, in writing...

Only if you are lazy enough to ignore the charges. If you cannot avoid them then it's your own fault. Do you want ryan air to hold your hand?

Don't flush the toilet, problem solved.

Unless you have a medical condition, or drank too much before getting on the plane. Ryan air don't operate long haul flights. They have medium flights. Go to the toilet before you get on the plane, or hold on for the hour or two you are flying, that's if your tight enough to want to save a euro...

Fcuking thread comes up at least once a week. I wonder what's the most common topic in AH.

Have a few variations. Great coat/jackets with 19 to 25 pockets.
Good luck looking for your keys or change in one of those pockets if you forget where you put it! LOL :pac:

Im getting tired of defending ryanair. If you dont like it fly with someone else. If you cant afford to, stop moaning. Its like buying a wrecked old car for 100 quid and complaining it doesnt have air conditioning/sat nav built in.

An old school airline ticket entitled you to - Cabin luggage, hold luggage, a meal or two or more depending on the length of the flight, use of toilets, choosing your seats, etc.

Now, what if I wanna fly to london and back in one day for work lets say, I don't need luggage, its a short flight so i'll eat at the airport and use the toilets there while waiting to board, and I dont care where I sit. Why should I pay for all the above. Ryanair removes the cost of everything so you 'Pay as you go'.

How is that legal? I mean you are left with no option there unless you wear all your clothes at once but then they may charge you for two seats.

So how's paying triple for your Aer Lingus flights going for ya?

I've never paid triple for an airlingus flight at a comparible time to a ryanair flight, to comparible destinations.

    Publicity stunt tbh..

Doing that would put his prices above the competitors.
    And that'd just be stupid.

It just wont happen unless the standard fare drops to zero on every flight.
    Even if it doesn't...

Stop bitching people... It's not like you're forced to use this airline...
Or like Ryanair is a service.. It's a business and it's your choice to use it or not.

just stop it ok! they are never going to compare to ryanair... £100 just to fly to london when ryanair fly there for £5 no thanks!! Ryanair fly their planes far quicker too.. we flew easyjet to stansted from belfast and it took 1 hour and a half.. we then flew from derry to stansted with ryranair and it only took 40 minutes!:P

Sometimes people will use anything to bash Ryanair. And then sometimes they'll pretty much defend anything they do...

I flew to London with them in January, flight was delayed in Dublin for 2 hours due weather. We had boarded, and the doors were closed. Once we did move, we took a long taxi before departure, flew for an hour then taxied to the stand in Stansted. All told it took about 3hrs30mins. Should I have kept my piss that long?

Some charges you can avoid, but this one would be taking the piss (pardon the pun)

No that time has passed, it was when Aer Lingus used to charge a weeks wages to fly to London.

yep i agree whats the point in all that in such a short flight... we flew from derry to prestwick for £10 or some cheap price and that was for 4 people! We got on the plane it took off and by the time it got upto the air we were in the thing for 5 minutes then the seat belt sign went off.. we chatted for a couple of minutes then decided we would goto the toilet... then the sign came on.. we were decending.. and landed minutes later.. the flight took 13 minutes i timed it!:D

do you honestly think they are fairies how the hell are they going to know if there is a delay!!

They have to anticipate delays, next you will only want life jackets on planes that are definitely going to crash into the sea.

To be fair the size of what people bring on for carry on luggage is disgraceful in some cases. Ryanair have somewhat brought this on themselves by encouraging people to bring carry on only but I hope they start policing this vigorously re the sizes. I always keep my carry on to the size and weight it's supposed to be and its incredibly frustrating to have to wait for someone to pull down a full suitcase and a few bags of duty free to get off the plane. All told it'll make for faster embarking/disembarking which is only a good thing imo.

The romanticism of air travel should be booted out the window into the field of dying ideals. Method of getting from A to B, nothing more nothing less.
