1 or 2 tank treatment unit

Folks I'm looking for a bit of advice on treatment units. Know very little about them!

One system I'm looking at uses 2 tanks - first tank acts like a septic tank before waste moves to next tank for treatment. It's a gravity flow system.

Other system uses just one tank to treat waste.

Obviously I haven't given specifics on how each unit performs but just wondering about the general pros & cons of each system, should one perform better than the other etc.

    Any help appreciated.

Its quite likely that both are using the same basic systems just using separate tanks instead of a large segmented tank. If that is the case, its a matter of personal choice. It can be more difficult to actually install the 2 tank setup on site. I know one system we previously installe had the main tank & a tall cylinder type tank after it. It was certainly messier to install than one tank due to connecting pipework, holding the tank perfectly vertical etc.

Alternatively the 2 tank system you may be looking at might be something like a traditional septic tank followed by filter beds. These are a different & more expensive system.
