hay everyone. i have searched around but haven't been able to find a definitive answer to this so i'll ask here. i want to import a generic nonprescription thyroid medication from mexico. it is unavailable in ireland and there isn't anything similar here. in mexico it is sold OTC. is it illegal for me to import this? if so would it also be illegal to import the same thing from within the EU? thanks

You need a solicitor to give you legal answers but in general there is a few problems coming to mind:

    1) Grey import - Illegal to import medicine from another country if sold here (could be sold under a different name/company)

    2) Medicine - Has to be tested and authorised to be used in countries (hence all the tests that needs to be done)

    3) Non EU import - VAT & Tax beyond quality concerns you may have

From inside EU would probably be easier but still have potential issues with 1 & 2

Read the charter, this is not allowed anywhere on Boards.
