Blues showing up purplish off colour, is it Graphics, inverter or backlight?

I have a Dell 9400 and the screen has been showing up "off colours" for quite a while now particularly in dark blues / purple often with a tinge of a red outline. Could this be backlight, inverter or graphics card? Cheers.

Best thing to do is connect an external moniter to the laptop

Be it a TV or destop monitor,

If it is the same as the laptops screen its the card

If it perfect it lcd

If it is showing fine on an external moniter i would then check the laptop screen cable make sure it is pluged in all the way to the screen and the motherboard if it is a bit lose you can get colour's showing a bit of
