All local politicians who become ministers and forget were they came from.

    I just don't like politicians

    Cowen fumes at 'treason' allegation

He sounded genuinely upset at the accusation.

Well he is supposed to be running the country so it's only natural he'd get annoyed if someone accused him of being a traitor.

Part of my problem with the bailout is when is enough money, enough to be shelled out!
Fcuk their bonuses! When they go back into profit and payback all the bailouts - then start with the bonuses!

Till then, anyone supporting such bonus payoffs or facilitating them with the money we have coughed up to cover their precious asses, is traitor to the people of Ireland I feel!

“I will not be accused of seeking to cause treason to my country,” he said. “I find that beyond the pale.”
    B Cowan

Sooooooo, does that mean his loyalty is to The Pale and so to Her Majesty in the UK?

Fraudian Slip methinks (yes I know... freudian - fraudian)
    ;)

Problem is that he should be sounding genuinely upset at the fact that he can't show his face in public without having rocks hurled at him.

I wonder what his face used to look like, all those years ago before it got turned into a busted bean-bag?

Who in your opinion are the Traitors to Ireland.

Just on that question, I'd say Terry Wogan a few times.
I remember a LOT of Eurovisions and he real spitefully knocking not just the Irish song entry but the person doing it as well ...and thats besides knocking our country for choosing it.

Ok some songs were absolutely bad but he should/could have been more professional about his words about it/us/the singer.

...then he would kiss ass to the brits!

Roy Keane walked out on his country.
Michael Collins split his country in two.
Stephen Ireland walked out on his country.

There's something about Cork. I'm going to say all of them.

On a serious note, I wonder how much it would have cost the govt to pay off everyone's mortgage and if it would have facilitated a recovery of sorts at a much lower cost to the exchequer while benefitting a hell of a lot of people.

Maybe, but how would that have helped his mates out? How would all Fiann Fails friends with massively indebted companies been able to offload their debts onto the tax payer, whilst still keeping their houses in Ascot, Marbella and Bulgaria.

Won't someone think of the developers.

Bertie Ahern - without doubt, Bertie Ahern. Cowen is left to clean up the mess while the other fella is off in the sunset of Drumcondra thinking of his numerous pensions and his next big lecture payment after 11 years at the top.

If Fingleton and Fitzpatrick had been elected they would be up there with him. They weren't so they aren't.

Terry Wogan - At least we lets the Brits think he is!!

He does it in jest and you know he's not serious.
Wogan used to do it with full venom and you knew by his tone, he was serious.

Many years ago when living with me mammy, she used to flick over to listen to the gobschite and what he might say.
The treacherous leach would rant about the Irish, forgetting where he actually came from and where he started in the business.

IMO Ahern earned everything he got by living in Drumcondra. All the money in Sean Fitzpatrick's swiss bank accounts couldn't compensate me for that.

He split the county in two.
    That's a fact.

    saved the country
that's an opinion. And an ill thought out one at that.

Christ, they must have started throwing rocks at him from the moment he was born. They could obviously see his potential even then.

I disagree with the Collins bit.
Those not aware of well recorded historic fact will not know of the mess Dev placed him in on purpose and more importantly - why!
Dev was a two faced sod!
Collins was made to be the fall guy, Devs patsy!
