buy a safety razor ( about €22 ) then you can get 100 blades for about €15, should last you a while, I switched about 2 months ago and it took about 2 weeks to get used to it but now i'd never go back, check out facial hair and Hats forum, there are loads of links to good online suppliers

I think its bizarre more people do not use electric razors. I know some tried them and were in bits, but you have to get used to them, I remember getting my last one and I was in bits for a few days from it, sudocreme cures it. It was strange to find my face took time to get used to the new sharp one, just different style I suppose. Many probably tried them donkeys years ago when they were not as good. If I go back to gillettes now my face is in bits the same way.

You could always shave with a head razor which should have less problems. I only would need a close shave going to weddings or an interview really.
This razor is meant to be for doing bald heads and gets amazing reviews on any site I checked

There's actually a marketing strategy known as the "razor and blades principal" where the customer is tempted by what looks like a good deal on a razor, only to later discover that the blades cost a ton, but feel they have to buy them anyway cos they've already paid for the razor. It's done with other products too, such as plug in air fresheners.

It's somewhat analagous to the way nightclubs can charge rip off prices for pints cos people feel they can't leave after paying in. When you buy a brand name razor you're paying in. I prefer the dive bar equivalent of razors, tesco value disposable, about 50c for a pack of ten!

    Get yourself a RazorPit.

They let you reuse your Fusion blades.

There have been a couple of threads on them already (one of them my own).

    It's a cracking little Gadget.

Ya they can be bad in the face cutting department if you're not careful. However, if/when I do nick myself I only get 2 little parallel cuts as opposed to the 3+ you get with the bladier (I know that's not a word) razors. At least that's what I tell myself. In reality I'm just a poor student that can't afford snazzy razors!

I used one blade for three years, stop being a bitch. :p

I thought shaving was meant to hurt and be manly, got new blades there a few weeks ago, no pain :(

I used to mix razors and electric shavers (late for work laziness) for years and always had bad skin on my neck then a barber told me to stick to one alone and your skin gets used to just that way of shaving. He was right.

As for expensive razors ... yeah they are getting ridiculous now. I am tempted to buy a nice one blade option but I would need some convincing to change to another brand/type. There are times where blood and fresh shirts is a pain.
You can stock up in Newry and Belfast when you are there - tis a bit cheaper.

I use an electric razor and a disposable to tidy up. I only shave once every couple of days as I work in IT so people don't see me and I'm afraid of natural light.

Is there anyone else out there who finds the price of razor/shaver blades ridiculously expensive? Today for example, I went into Tesco to buy some for my Gillette Fusion and was quoted €22.50 for eight of them!!! Mind you I still bought them, as I'm starting to look like Tom Hanks in Castaway, so I had no choice... What are your opinions, I think it is an outrage!

You can buy 12 for 24 euro and get free moisturiser with it in tesco too. Maybe this was on the shelf below...

Nah, there is some razor sharp wit around here, nothing to get too lathered up about.

I use a electric razor and a cheap throw away razor for the little bits missed.

Its been working well and it lasts 2 days which is good considering i have heavy growth.

Electric razors simple don't work on me. My facial hari seems to be impervious to them. THere's almost blades flying across the room. hmmm I mut try lighting a match off my face sometime....

Oh dear God no, not unless you want to have to get plastic surgery.

I'm also annoyed at the price of cartridges. I only get a few shaves out of each blade before it starts cutting me. But wait. What is this safety razor business all about ? I've not heard of this before. I don't understand. I always thought saftey blades were those Wilkinson multiblade ones with the bars across the front. So now you tell me there is something else ?????

    ?

I dont know about tesco ones but there is nothing wrong with disposable Gilette, bic etc razors. Actually contrary to what people are saying my auld fella said he couldnt use mach 3 etc type razors (and I never tried them because of this) as they were uncomfortable and irritated him he swears by disposable and he uses the same one for ages I'm talking weeks shaving everyday, I can only get a few shaves out of one.
