Maybe if the thread was stickied it would generate more interest and a poll could be set up asking who will be attending?

It doesnt work...there'll be people arguing over venues all day.
I dont see whats wrong with Ron Blacks..the drink is cheap, its in a central location and they were good enough to let us reserve an area.

The last beers users were given a choice and Capitol was voted for, last few times posters had a choice, there were no rows.

Any bar will reserve a space for parties of 20 etc. we're in a recession.

The last time I was in Ron Blacks I was charged the guts of €15 for a cocktail, Capitol did specials all night.

That Sin €50 deal looke like a good one and I see there was interest from boardsies but Ron Blacks was picked without consulting AH posters.

It's an AH beers, attendees should be alowed to pick a venue IMO.

If they pick Ron Blacks then great but they should be given the choice.

Now that you have the date sorted, maybe stick a poll in a new thread for places to go?

If you felt so strongly about it then why didn't you offer to set up a poll? AFAIK, you're the only AH mod posting in this thread. The discussion about venues wasn't really getting anywhere, it's the same people posting in the thread over and over again, and it not being stickied is also hindering it. I'm sure it's ok at this stage to set up a poll with Ron Blacks, Capitol, Sin, and any other options people have?

I have received PMs off a couple of posters, most people that want a different venue won't post on thread, they just won't go.

Regarding offering to set up a poll; I asked for 4 people to volunteer to help organise the beers in the first thread that was started, only one person offered.

If anyone wants a thread/poll started on a venue that's no problem, I'll sticky it.

I was going to offer to help but I was going on holidays the next week so I didn't think there was any point! But then nothing really happened with it for ages!

The more people that come the better, so the poll is a good idea. Should there be a fresh thread? I think all the chit chat on this thread might put other people off...:o

I know I do it as much as anyone else, but I remember when a previous beers was being organised and I was thinking I'd like to go, but then I was put off when I looked at the thread and it seemed that everyone was all pally already...so I think we should curtail it a bit!

Degsy was nice nuff to book RBs when no-one had any objections to that and did have objections to capitol and sin. Now people are complaining about not being given a choice. So Zohan, it seems a new poll is needed.

    Sin
    Capitol
    Ron Blacks

Put info of the deals after names

I think that poll should be locked seen as the date is chosen. Saves confusing people.

It's tempting to go to this, just to get some practice socialising and whatnot, even though I'm new here and coming from Athlone. =P

Are there many people around the age of 20 going? People getting hotels?

Yeah you should definitely come, there'll be folks of all ages hopefully. The more the merrier :)

IMO. I have never been to any pub in dublin so I'd be going with the masses. I know Capitol done deals on the cocktails but I don't drink cocktails and I wouldn't be prepared to go out and pay 5.70 for a pint when my local is only 3.65 a pint.

The deal SIN where doing sounds good. €50 covers all drinks for the night except shots and cocktails and covers your entry fee. That's grand for me because I don't drink either shots or cocktails.

In Ron Blacks 4.00 a pint sounds pretty reasonable but as Zohan said the guts of €15 for a cocktail is a bit ridiculous TBH.

Is everyone planning on staying in Ron Blacks for the night or moving elsewhere after a while? No point going there if everyone is going to end up in SIN later on or whatever.

You'll need to get a happy medium with everything. Venue, cost of drinks depending on what people are drinking and overall a good night out.

That's my 2 cents. As I said 4.00 a pint in RB's is ok BUT not everyone will drink pints. If people want cheap cocktails for the night then Capitol looks like the place. If people want a happy medium between pints, shots and cocktails with their entry fee already covered then SIN is a good spot but there's no point in some people paying the 50 euro if they wont be drinking pints and will have to pay for their cocktails the whole night.

What way do the places run? Is Capitol and RB's late bars or what?

    WTF?!

I think a poll for the venue would be nice. there's only a few people consistently posting in here and theres over 20 people that voted for the 17th. i think a poll is fair. :)

I rang SIN there. That €50 euro offer covers cocktails too. Only things not covered is shots and champagne.

As i've said you cant please everybody.

We polled for the date, not the venue..you couldve started a venue poll but trust me we'd be arguing over it till the cows came home and teh beers wouldnt happen.
Nobody else was willing to go and book a venue and i've done a few of these in the past.

I really dont see what your problem is.

If everybody who tries to arrange a venue has to get all this flack i can see why there were no volunteers.

You see as a mod and the thread starter I'm the one that people PM about the venue etc.

Someone else actually contacted Ron Blacks, think it was The Master IIRC.

Booking a venue isn't a big deal, we can do that later.

I'll sticky a new thread asking people to suggest a venue, when we have enough suggestions I'll add a poll.

It's an AH beers so AH should decide on the venue and as I said before if they go for Ron Blacks then that's cool too.

I'm going to close this thread now.
