Here is an article from America on tall men and women, hope this cheers you up

    The Dating Scene

The preference for taller men extends, it seems, beyond the boardroom and into the bedroom.

Steve Penner, the previous owner of a Boston-based dating service, says he heard it all the time. "It is common for many women to insist that any man they date must be "at least" four to six inches taller," he says.

And the reason may be genetic.

Tall men are more likely to get married and have children than short men.

Experts like James Gould from Princeton University believe that women's preference for tall men is hard-wired into the brain, and it's there because it relates to good health.

"When height is an indicator of health, this is not surprising, and if females are programmed to look for health, they would end up with taller males," Gould says. "It's entirely plausible this is true."

And a study published in the journal Nature seems to back up this theory. Robin I. M. Dunbar of the University of Liverpool and colleagues studied 3,200 men in their 20s to 50s, whose average height was 5'6." They found:

Taller men are more likely to be married and have children than shorter men

Childless bachelors are significantly shorter than married men

Those with children were, on average, 1.2 inches taller than childless men

Married men were an average of 1 inch taller than bachelors

    Article is kind of silly.

It's not that shorter men hate marriage and procreation, it's that women are more inclined towards taller men and marry and procreate with them with higher frequency than shorter men.

It's a significant contributing factor as to why as a race we are getting taller on average over generations.

I think that was the gist of the article - at least thats how i interpreted it. Women tend to go for taller guys which explains why taller men are more likely to get married and have children.

6' 5" Myself! No Brad Pitt but I still manage to do very well with the ladies. I think it's a personality thing too. Height does help though. :)

I wouldn't worry about it. Lots of girls like taller men. I have friends who are 6' 4 and 6'6 and the ladies follow them around.

It is also nice because you can always locate them in a crowd and they are very handy for changing lightbulbs and getting things off the top shelves in the pantry :)

Ok well I'm only 16 years of age and already I'm at a height of 6ft 3inchs. Some people would call me lanky (usually with words B*stard or Prick after it).

I find it fairly hard to get the womenz. So I'm wondering whether or not being tall (really tall) is an issue with much women?

And anyway being super tall gives me a reason to not get girls, rather that than just being a big prick.

There is a lot more tall people now. I'm the bones of thirty years older then you and back then there wasn't so many of us.

You know your luck is in when the females look at the size of your shoes. I'm a size 14 shoe and that was fun.

My nephew is a head taller than the next tallest in his class at 7yo. He's not lanky but he is a sensitive little soul. Little does he know the ladies are going to love him!:)

    Little bastard!:(

I'm 5'11, not too tall not too small. Baby bears porridge in the height department

I also heard about a study done on the attractiveness of footballers depending on their position.

Goalkeepers did very well. They said it was because of the independent responsibility of the job blah blah. I'm sure the fact they are massively tall helps. Also with Rugby players

Yeah I like tall - not Jeff Goldblum tall, but run-of-the-mill tall's all good.

I wouldn't like to be tall myself though.

So how tall is run of the mill tall ?

I heard what women really want is girth, I was 2 stone into my beatification process when I learned the truth. :(

I find attractive tall people are attractive, but unattractive ones aren't.

I'm really short though, so maybe that makes my opinion void?

For me tall guys are a lot more attractive than smaller guys. Even if the small guy is better looking. If he's anywhere near my height (5'4") he's just a no no. Sad but true.

I say old bean was they're not a study done that concluded that the Napoleon complex was a myth?

Anyway, a brief look at the infallible wikipedia says in a sample group of people aged 21-25 Irish people had an average of 5'10" for males and 5'4.5" for females. Also says the numbers were self-reported and the study was done ~10 years ago. Maybe the latter would compensate for the former. Would probably qualify somebody as tall if they're more than a standard deviation greater than the mean. I'm going to take a shot in the dark and say that's somewhere between 6'-6'1"+.

Being too for it cool I naturally did not read the citation.

Ah sure tall people aren't much good for astronauts.

Maybe. Women over about 5'8/9 creep me out. But I guess girls like tall guys. I don't think it's a major factor. Although tall women are quite unattractive generally IMO

    This.

A guy doesn't have to be tall necessarily for me, just taller than me when I'm in heels!

Your problem is being 16. Some people are naturals with women, the rest of us need years of practice before we get completely comfortable.

I absolutely love tall women. Taller the better.

I find being shorter (5'6") a huge advantage, funnily enough.
