    Hi Lads,

At the moment I only have one key for my car and conscious of the fact that if it is misplaced or broken I'm screwed!

I don't have the card that has the codes for the keys, does this mean its impossible to get new keys?

    Thanks for the help!

Just pop into a decent locksmith & get a spare one for about 100 quid, they can code the new key to your existing one on the spot.

Been trying loads of locksmiths but none seem to be doing car keys. I'll keep looking

Down in the south of the country. Thanks anyway.

I'm guessing to get a new sensor to lock/open the car, would have to be done through the dealer?

Nah there is cobblers/locksmiths out there who can programme fobs for ya once ya have the system code or the original one. Hence ya can buy blank ones on ebay. The locksmiths have the Silca key programmer system cost around 5 grand so the newer places tend to have them to lure in the business

I got a second key cut for my car at autokey.ie there near the red cow inn .
was about 140 euro for a key to open the door and start the engine, they programme the key into the car. for a remote key that opens the doors by pressing the button was 220euro but prices vary for every make of car. that was about a year ago. they will do it on the spot for you. i tried other places but no were else i tried had the tool to programme the key into the car. would highly recommend. if U look up their website u will see where they are and what they do

these are empty key pods no good to ya unless you have a key to canalibise for inserts . in regards to reproducing some of these keys its always worth pricing them from the dealer you could be quite surprised . for example where i work any of the newer immobilser keys are 95 euro , i spoke to my local mitsubshi dealer qouted 78 for their's. the only pain is that you have to wait for it

And you have to then go and collect the key and then wait for the mechanic to programme the key into the car.All this to save 17 euro. The 95 euro key works straight from the locksmiths and he never has to see the car.
