Smash a parking ticket machine

I'm a little short on cash so I plan to smash open a parking ticket machine. I've chosen one in the suburbs as there are too many CCTV cameras in the city centre. I will break it open in the middle of the night, while wearing my black hoodie, when there is nobody around. I have some questions, however:

How often are these machines emptied and when? I don't want to smash it open only to find it 20cent inside.

I plan to use a big axe to smash it. Is this sufficient for the job?

If I'm successful I will move onto other parking ticket machines around the city. And then onto Luas ticket machines.

You are probably right. But I may need to prise the safe inside open so I'll need something with a sharp edge, like an axe. Maybe I'll take an axe and a sledgehammer.
