Just checked, and he apparently pre-empted your wrath in 1745.

    Charlie f**kin Haughey ffs???

Do we hate ourselves so much that we'd include the most corrupt Irish politician ever on a list of the 40 greatest people in Irish history? F**ckin idiots.

"Ah sure fair f*cks to him, sure didn't he get away with it"

F**kin have a bit of self respect and awarness ye idiots, he bilked the people of this country for the entirety of his reign in the most cymical of fashions, he ws a f**kin crook of the highest order, he should be disintered from Irish soil & placed on a boat of sh!te & f**ked out into the Atlantic.

Terrible list. Most of those have never contributed anything to Irish society.

    Oscar Wilde.

We commissioned Ipsos MRBI to conduct a survey of the Irish public asking them this same question

I love to know who they asked

Don't think I will bother voting for any of them.

The list was compiled from a market survey of a thousand people. They could not name active politicians or anyone from RTE, so that explains aunty gaybo’s absence.

It’s a ****e list, but does the average Seamus Public know much about the likes of Boole etc. It appears not.

It's a toss up between Yeats and Joyce really - they've done so much to promote the intelligence of Irish people, although a few more lists like this and that river's gon' run dry.

    Mr Michael Collins.

I think you gotta consider who the person you would vote for, would vote for.

Yeats would vote for Pearse IMO.

Therefore Pearse deserves the vote. Am I too blinded by logic?

Joe Dolan would vote for Gately, etc.

Where did they go for this 1000 people? Donnybrook National School?

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

    Dr.Noel Browne
    Michael Collins
    Sean Lemass
    Daniel O'Connell
    Charles Stewart Parnell

The top 5 in my opinion, from that list. Daniel O'Connell gets my vote though.

I think RTE personalities were excluded.

Stephen Gately. Is there anyone here that think he was Ireland's Greatest Person? Having him in there devalues the entire competition.

In the absence of my cat, I voted for Noel Browne (cos he didn't fire my mum many years ago). Oh, and JC McQuaid tried to excommunicate him. Which was hard given Browne wasn't a believer.

I'm confused by this. Is your cat some magic eight ball that you shake and turn upside down for an answer? What has your cat got to do with it? When will they get to the fireworks factory!!!!!
