Comp cover with d"riving other cars"

Has anyone heard of someone having "driving other cars" cover and it being comprehensive? I'm aware that various motor trade policys allow it and that open drive would mean anyone can drive your car ... but fully comp on any car seems a bit mad.

Someone I know was told this by a broker and it just sounds like nonsense. They claimed they were the only insurance company in Ireland that provided it.

I really don't see how this would work in practice, just wondering if anyone has actually seen this provided anywhere?

I have this with AXA, it covers me comphrensive for other cars up to 60K value.

It is with an executive plus policy.

I'm assuming executive plus policy is some form of company policy ?

My girlfriend has me insured on her car (auris) we both went into the axa broker when we were paying for insurance i was having a look through the paperwork and it said that all named drivers were covered to drive any other (insured car) and are covered fully comp provided that their own car is not on the road, i questioned the broker if this was correct and that me as a named driver is covered to drive any car fully comp! he replied with yes, so long as the car isnt registered in either of our names and the auris is not driving at the same time then yes i am, i asked him 3 times was he sure as i thought i was going mad dreaming!!!!

I was also told this today by a broker & he sent out written confirmation too. It is very unusual imo though

I also have this in my Axa policy.
Usually insured 3rd party on another car is the norm, then ya pay a little extra for the fully comp.

If the certificate shows you are covered then you're covered subject to any conditions in the policy document. If you have any doubts at all you should query this directly with the insurance company and get it confirmed in writing. A broker is basically just a sales agent, he's not the one providing cover.

Not sure about whether it's male or female only or what not but my sis is insured with ladystar (zurich). On her insurance certificate it says she can drive any car under comp cover once the following is met.

    1) She has permission from the owner.
    2) The vehicle does not exceed the value of €50,000
    3) The vehicle is not a company car
    4) The vehicle is not commercial
    5) The vehicle is not a taxi/hackney

She has 4 years no claims.

I have this on my Axa policy. It is a no cost option with the Institute of Advanced Motorists when you get the insurance through them.

Does the other car need to be insured?

Does the other car need to be insured?

according to my policy yes, and the car cant be registered in your own (or anyone named on the policys name)
