I dislike him and his radio show so much that I tuned 2fm out of every radio I own in case I accidentally click it on.

Thants funny and I dislike him as much.

He lived in Shankill years ago when he didnt have an arse in his trousers but always mentions Clontarf these days.

He just takes so long to pick his big woooords. Cant listen to his bullology.

House wifes would love to share his bank account and listen out for the opportunity.

I think I have discovered the real reason Gerry had Mark Little in to have an chat about facebook and twitter. The old "Gerry Ryan is a complete ******" facebook group has been replace by the "Gerry Ryan is a complete and utter ****** facebook group. It seems to have been up and running for a while now.

RTE have been pluggin it constantly for the last two months, TV and radio.
It's sickening. It's a only a concert hall FFS. Cathal Goan should be called in to answer questions over this.

Going by his previous form i think he will give it a fifteen minute segment all of its own with an interview with Crosbie thrown in for good measure

in all fairness lads if any of us had the opportunity to get some freebies, we would and we do
if we could help our childrens careers in any way we could, we would and we do
if were able to promote our friends and their businesses, we would and we do
i listen to the show most days (some days i enjoy it some days i dont) and by the looks of it most of the haters listen too.
in all fairness the thread has become bitter and twisted and nothing to do with the show itself its just a personal attack on gerry, and lads, this has become very very boring
there are far worse dj`s in the country that could be highlighted but the personal jibes are a very poor way to put across an argument

i am not affiliated to rte or gerry ryan or anyone else before i`m hit with a barrage of abuse , i just believe in fair play at the end of the day

I know this is difficult to believe folks, but he has a woman on who is an expert on Highly Sexual Women and guess what????
Gerry knows LOADS MORE ABOUT IT THAN SHE DOES!!!!!!!
The conversation is about 75% him and 25% the expert.
She also seems a little bit uncomfortable to be in the same room as him.:D

    "Lived in Shankill"???
    Don't think so.
And "Didn't have an arse in his trousers"???
    Definitely never the case.
He constantly brags about his "Fore-Dor" being the richest man in Clontarf and telling him constantly that "Life is all about money".
This man would never have let GR's trousers go arseless.:p

I agree that i also believe in fair play, although its obvious some posters here don't and prefer instead to leap on any fault or perceived fault and ignore any qualities. There are 300 000 people who listen to his show, and no matter what fault anyone here finds, thats the only argument which counts as to his popularity.

The assumed intelligence of the 300 000 plus listeners of the show is not relevant to the fact of them listening to the show.

That one may not like the fact that 300 000 plus people do listen to the show most days, or query their intelligence for so doing, is irrelevant.

I question the intelligence of so many tv shows that i don't own a tv. That doesn't take from the fact that Big brother or all those shows which genuflect at that oxymoron, celebrity culture, are not profitable, and will stay on air because if it.

Just because our ego is such that, because we don't like something, we assume that anyone who does like it is a moron, and because hundreds of thousands of people are morons, the show in question will be discontinued, is neither logical or likely.

I don't think so, some of us have standards.

Extrapolate that culture into politics and you have a very good reason this country is swirling around the plughole.

Pat Kenny is a good example, you never of him ligging at events and constantly plugging his family.

That's the difference between someone with a bit of moral integrity and balance rather than a loud mouthed ligger who takes everything, and shamelessly plugs the people he gets the largess from.

One rule of business, never put yourself in a compromising situation if you want to be taken seriously.

Old cliché= No such thing as a free lunch.

Yes, most people would given the opportunity and that is percisely why a public broadcasting organistion like RTE has programme guidelines on presenters and gifts, commerical promotions and product placement. It is also has an equal opportunity policy to promote "fair play" in its recruiting procedures and prevent people using their influence to get their children jobs at the expenses of others who don't have friends in high places.

Given how RTE is funded, I think people have every right to complain if someone appears to be flaunting these rules.

Y...RTE... also has an equal opportunity policy to promote

All employers have a legal obligation to be an "equal opportunities" employer, and in this regard ORETE is no different from any other employer.

Does anyone else really get the pip when ORETE keeps telling us it is "an equal opportunities employer" when the alternative is to break the law?

Also, "ORETE, supporting the arts" is another example of ORETE patting itself on the back.

I think ORETE should runs ads for employment, after which they play the message "ORETE - we play our talent so much over the odds that our competitors would be fools to offer them even 20% of what we pay - ORETE, flushing your licence fee down the toilet"

The thing is he's as far removed from real money as most of his listeners.
He makes ten times as much as the average working(or not working) stiff that listens to his show but that doesnt mean he's actually rich.
People who are truly wealthy earn ten times and more what he makes so although he may impress the average God-fearing paddy in the street he's really no big shakes and that makes his boasting sound all teh more naff.

A wee bit off topic, I hear he's getting a new tv show.

    please don't batter me Degsy.

Couldn't believe that when I read it in a newspaper yesterday. Who in their right mind would give Gerry Ryan another TV show?

A well off pall of mine refuse to get a TV license because of Gerry Ryan.
Why give money to an organization paying that a hole?

Those that agreed to his contract that he is allowed one TV series a year....:(

I gave up questioning the reasoning behind many of RTE's decisions many years ago.

We don't have to watch it tho...:)

The answer to your question is obvious, and I hope your "pall" enjoys his stay in Mountjoy or whatever prison he'll be sent to.

We pay a compulsory licence fee that allows ORETE to funds the talents enormous salaries. If ORETE were a normal commercial broadcaster we could vote with our feet. By not listening, we deprive advertising revenue from those shows.

Gerry Ryan has 300 000 listeners who make his show commercially viable, and the futile gesture of your "pall", of not buying a TV license, due to not liking Gerry Ryan's radio show, just smacks of immaturity and lack of thinking it through.

I dont watch this a hole, but I have to pay for him to get his inflated wages.

I didnt borrow during the boom and I still have to pay for the bank bailout.

A televised pairing of those two idiots would be enought to finally tip the country into anarchy.
