What is your idea of a real low life or a scumbag?

    Every day we read and hear of low lives and scumbags doing thing to
    other people and getting away with it.
    I try to keep on the good side of life, but these people really get to me.
    house break in's, muggings, beating up helpless people for what? sometimes for a €10 or a mobile phone.
    What do you think should be done to these people when the law catches up with them. Do you believe in "if you do the crime you should do the time".
    I'd like to hear your views, thanks.....

    The victims should be able to determine the punishment.

    Thats simply it, do the crime do the time

    However, assumptions on who are scumbags by appearance really are off I've learned in the last few years, not that you were saying that

    Biggest problem, and perhaps why they are getting to you, is a huge lack of police presence because they are underresoureced and have to do all of their own administration

    I think that they often they don't realise that the CCTV protects them and not us!Many times on Dublin Bus I've witnessed rascist and sexual harrasment and intimidation carried out by useless wannabe gangster junkies. The Mayo man in me would like to snap them like the 10 stone twigs they are but I've more to lose than them, and yes I have reported incidents to get the response that db is pursuing campaigns on various other routes but doesn't have the resourses to police all routes. What can you do? Maybe they should bring back the real concept of an outlaw ie outside the protection of the law? What if by commiting certain crimes you lost protection for a certain period anyone could legally assault you or rob your house maybe this could teach the benifit of our social contracts?

    Gangs of drunken/coked up idiots going round punching people for no reason,last two nites out in town iv seen it,I generally just turn tail and walk in the other direction if I see it unfolding,learned my lesson last year when I woke up in James with a concussion!

    Theres some types of people I avoid. I do however don't like to label people with those sort of titles.

    People act the way they're programmed to. They copy people are them and their beliefs are generally like those people they spend their time with. So people who grow up with mentally unhealthy parents will also be mentally unhealthy in most cases.
