Historic Country House Drama Films (with a bit of sex)

Hi All,

I’m looking to put together of list of costume drama films themed around wealthy country house families during different historic periods (eg Victorian). Themes I’m looking for include greed, ambition, aristocracy, social class, politics and intellectualism. To complete the package, the film has to come with a bit of sex/nudity. (I am not looking for Jane Austen romance movies).

So far, I have come up with Angels and Insects, starring Patsy Kensit (which if I remember correctly turned out to be about incest). If anyone can recommend any others, I am all ears.

Are you looking for films set in England specifically? If not Dangerous Liasons is an obvious one (Valmont is based on the same book). Vanity Fair, The Duchess, The Other Boleyn Girl (and the BBC version), The Age of Innocence, Madame Bovary, Portrait of a Lady.

It's also worth going through the "what customers who bought this dvd also bought" links on amazon. It's usually films of the same genre.
