iomega select desktop hard drive

Help - I have one of the above. I used to be able to do my backup via the norton security, when I had it. I have now changed to another form of security. I dont know how to do the backup now.

I feel foolish asking but would feel more foolish if I lost all my pics/data etc.

I would love some help please.

I thought there might be some iomega software I could download, but I cant find any.

If you're running Vista/7, or even XP Pro, I think, you can set a scedualed backup manually. Just have a look in Control Panel. If you're only backing up every so often, you can just straight copy/paste.

The problem is i barely understand any of what you have just said. I understand the concept of copy and paste but copy what and paste it where ? I need very simple english

Find whatever it is that you want to backup. If it's a bunch of stuff in different places, you're going to either have to move stuff in one place, or do what I'm about to explain a few times to get everything.

Find a file/folder you want to backup, right click on it, and click "copy". Go to My Computer (or Computer, depending on what version of Windows you have) and click on your external drive. If you want, you can create a new folder in there. "My Backup" or whatever. Right click that folder, and hit "paste". You have now backed stuff up.

Thank you. I will give it a go and see how I get on . It was sooooo easy when i used Norton. All I had to do was hit the backup button - choose the ext hard drive and off we went.
